Advantages In Portal Hosted Websites

There are many platforms providing hosting service, in a manner where :

• You can build, design and optimize a template theme based website in-house,

• Have access to the space and all of your files

• No code level access.
Such are called template theme based portal hosted websites.
WordPress, Blogger, Squarespace, Shopify, Magento are the leading platforms offering this kind of all-in-one solution.
WordPress being the worldwide leader having 30% of global market share for this type of service and is almost as big as all the rest above combined together.
Similarly, there are many hosting servers or website development companies offering services, where :
• One can host his website by renting or buying space from them or their affiliates,

• Develop a website through programming, but without any building, optimizing or designing software support like template themes, plugins etc.

• Alongside also have code level access.
Such method is called self-hosting a website.
Bluehost, Hostgator, Amazon, Dreamhost are typical examples of top server space owners and renters used by such websites.
According to us, Advantages In Portal Hosted Websites are much greater than the self-hosting method, which we will discuss soon.
Just to clarify – If you opt for then you would mandatorily be on the its server and would fall under the category of a – Template Theme Based Portal Hosted Website.
But if you use this portal only for building your website, but want to host the same on another mainframe, then you need to download the (not .com) free software.
In such a case, you would upload the application on your chosen server and then proceed with development, after importing and uploading themes and plugins from anywhere.
However, it gives you the choice to either host your website on its portal or else on your own or a rented server and use the free application, if needed.
Both choices have their own strengths, positives, limitations and boundations.
As per us, there are major drawbacks in self-hosting a website !

Whereas the overall advantages in portal hosted websites are far greater.

Many running their websites on self-hosting servers and perfectly happy.

But, only those who get a chance to try out both options would understand the drawbacks in self-hosting a website !

One would know and understand the advantages in portal hosted websites only after one experiences the same.

Nevertheless, let us first explain why we think so.

Which one is a better option ?

Opting for a template based portal hosted website

On one hand that depends upon :

• Your requirement,
• Technical knowledge,
• Budget,
• Time, manpower and resources at your disposal or
• If you need any special features.

It’s like deciding between :

Sending your child for extra classes in a group coaching center

Hiring a teacher to come over to your house for giving tuitions.

The former is lower cost, but does not provide much room for personalization, even though the already setup system may be a well planned out schedule.

Whereas the latter is higher price, but provides much more flexibility in terms of modifying schedules and thrust on specific subjects where more focus is required.

Group study classes could overcrowded and during internal examinations, some student might find it easy to copy answers from the child seated next to him.

Whereas in a home study session, the teacher could monitor if any the student engages in any mischief during a test.

However, we find that the drawbacks in self-hosting a website are greater than the portal-hosted ones.

Exceptions always exist, as for large corporates, the self-hosting option is obviously the inevitable option.

It also depends upon what your priorities are –

A. Would you prefer designing personalization and code level access ?

Practicality and adequate security ?

B. Would you rather compromise on customization facilities ?

And instead

Opt for ultimate stability, ease-of-use and the best customer support ?

Design and functionality are not the only crucial features required to complete a powerful website.

A high level of optimization is above all.

Moreover, self-hosting works out more costly as compared to template theme based portal hosted websites.

Clients feeling unsatisfied with their website development companies and looking for another developer is a usual phenomenon.

It can happen in any case –

A Self-hosted Website

Or else

A template based website hosted on a portal.

Nevertheless, the chances of conflicts within a client and a web development company, in the former case are far more than the latter.

Feeling happy with just an above average website would imply that the owner does not require extracting the most out of this marketing tool.

Of course, a full utilization of features in websites comes at a price.

It would be better not to have one rather than owning an average website because then it becomes as good as an online catalogue only.

One needs to understand that a poor website leaves a very bad impression on educated clients.

Let us discuss some matters below which might help you evaluate a bit.

Recap :

• All points mentioned below are pertaining to small and medium size companies having or wanting modest to middle level websites.

• Such suggestions are for clients 100% serious about building a website of a high-standard only.

• As we are taking only small to medium size companies into consideration, so discussing only middle to average level website promoters and developers here.

We have already eliminated two categories :

• Large companies

• High-standard website builders

The reason for excluding the two categories above is that our purpose of discussion here is to pass on our message to the masses.

The Main Benefits In Self-hosting A Website are :

1. One has the flexibility to choose a prefered hosting server.

This opens up the room for an access to the open-source applications, templates and extensions available online.

2. It’s possible to buy, upload or import any open-source plugin or theme from the internet.

One has far more room to customize the features, layout and formatting aspects.

3. Deciding for self-hosting is especially gainful for those who already have IT skills.

Or else for the ones who need a large website with special features and able to afford an in-house programmer.

In fact, people either capable of coding or can afford to hire any full-time IT engineer, should choose the self-hosting option preferably.

4. It would not be a bad idea if time and budget is not an issue and you are prepared try out more than one website contractor.

Such is because the first experiment with self-hosting usually goes wrong and one abandons a half-developed website and moves on to the next developer.

5. It’s possible to shift to any other server without too much of difficulty.

That is provided that your service provider has taken the latest backup.

6. You can monetize your website through online ads.

The Main Drawbacks In Self-hosting A Website are :

1. You would need to ensure that your consultant buys space on a high quality server.

2. Such websites are often prone to data privacy problems, virus attacks and hacking risks because of commonly used untested third-party plugins.

3. Another example of the drawbacks in self-hosting a website is that such are vulnerable to crashing during plugin uploads.

4. Such websites consume a heavy backend level maintenance and troubleshooting cost.
5. Issues like :

  • Overlapping text and images
  • Inconsistencies in rendering,
  • Mobile incompatibility,
  • Alignment problems,
  • Complex navigation elements,
  • Unclear text,
  • Non-clickable buttons,
  • Odd and sudden gaps and spaces,
  • Varying font sizes or
  • Untidy menus

and incompatibilities of different sorts, often crop up in such type of websites.

6. One more risk involved is that it may be very difficult for a new programmer to guarantee a symmetrical continuation in the functions of the website, after taking over from the previous one.

7. One of the drawbacks in self-hosting a website is that one is unable to make modifications if he/she is technically unqualified.

The entire interface for such a client is highly complicated even to self-promote his/her website on social media, leave apart making updations.

8. As the auto update and maintenance feature is not available, one would need to ensure that the website builder takes a backup of all files, including the code, on a regular basis, manually.

9. If ever you decide switching over to another website development company, the transition and migration stage may or may not be smooth depending upon the level of expertise of that company.

10. It’s true that self-hosting opens up an unlimited room for maneuverability on various technical aspects.

But very few middle size website building companies have that kind of expertise.

The ones not sure about how to add or change a feature, somehow successfully convince you about why that certain facility cannot be added or changed.

And those who are extremely well equipped, charge a heavy prices.

The best way to extract the maximum out of a self-hosted website is to hire your own coding engineer who could help you in dealing with your developer.

Moreover, that works out very expensive for whom a completely professional website is a priority.

11. Another example of the drawbacks in self-hosting a website is that there are quite a few hidden costs involved in websites built on such systems.

Let’s say, you need a SSL certificate for security and the company you hired, might ask you for some small additional amount to enable that feature.
Or you surely will end up paying substantial charges in case daily updations required.
12. Generally, 24X7 customer support is unavailable as the full staff in medium size website development companies, usually works only during day working hours as you find only 1 or 2 junior level, helpline professionals to address your call, in night hours, if needed.

24X7 technical care at the renowned server renters, is always available.

Nevertheless, in most cases, one requires help from the website development company and not from the server owners side.

Howeber, if the website development contractor is also large scale level, then no problem.

13. Another classic example of the drawbacks in self-hosting a website is that it’s quite unlikely for the backend code to be clean.

Your site might function reasonably well, but the chances of duplication and unnecessary html being present in your code are high.

This is a typical error upsetting the search engines.

After all a non-optimized website has minimum value.

14. The server space your website contractor would rent out, would most likely run on enterprise software.

However, there is no guarantee that they would use licensed software at his end, during the development process.

In addition if your service provider rents space from a middle level server – then downtime issues crop up. And verifying the true picture might involve scrutiny from your side.

Pirated applications are prone to faults, errors and bugs, which sometimes are detected later.

15. Often you might need to personally call the developer whenever any matter remains unresolved even after email or chat conversations.

So, that was the list of drawbacks in self-hosting a website as per our perception.

The Major Advantages In Portal Hosted Websites are :

1. One may feel assured of having a fully functional website.
The probability of any technical glitch or server downtime problem is the least, here.
Navigation and browsing is neat, stable, effortless and smooth.
2. You need not worry about any virus or malware attacks, phishing or data hacking threats during the entire subscription period.
3. The available extensions and themes are not as many as the unlimited access in self-hosting system, but still the in-house variety under the paid-plans are quite sufficient.
One of the main advantages here is – Zero risk of your website crashing during plugin uploads.
4. You can virtually launch a small website within a week and middle level in one month.
5. It’s practical as you can easily make an unlimited number of modifications and updates, sitting at home or office, as you can ask your developer for the login password.
The system is the most user-friendly and Google AMP compatible having an easy-to-understand interface to add, delete or modify anything your website builder has created.
One does not require IT skills to develop, update or maintain content within this type of system.
It’s simple for any new user to just login and insert or delete anything without any knowledge of programming.
6. Such platforms are equipped with troubleshooting any problem a subscriber faces 24X7.
These companies have customer help engineers, world-over who can provide help as your call or chat message gets routed to the staff depending upon global time zones.
You would never need to call the technical care staff, as email or chat support takes care of all issues.
7. You can be assured of a clean code at the backend and that is a positive factor for search engine optimization.
8. One of the advantages in portal hosted websites is that such platforms offering an all-in-one solution, install enterprise software.
This brings an additional benefit to websites running on their gateways, as the system sorts out technical errors, bugs and browser or mobile incompatibility issues.
9. All such portals provide an SSL certificate, i.e. all websites on such type of platforms are secured with the https prefix.
10. Generally, the first experience is the last and it’s very rare to see companies finding faults like untidy formatting, jerky movements in browsing etc. and end up being lifetime members of such platforms.
11. The annual subscription charges include automatic maintenance, backups and software update without any hidden cost.
12. Such portals enable a stronger integration and compatibility between hosted websites and social media networks in comparison to the alternative system under discussion here.

The Major Disadvantages In Portal Hosted Websites are :

1. You cannot choose a prefered hosting service and will be confined to using the server space owned by your website development platform.
2. An adequate number of safe and tested plugins and extensions are available in-house for paid-members, though not as many as one can find in the self-hosting option.

One cannot import or upload any open-source plugin or application and would need to work within the limited layout and theme capabilities.

3. You won’t be able to monetize your website.

But, there is room for some monetization as you have the option to display advertisements that your platform is offering.

4. One has access only to the automatically backed up files.

Code-level access is not available. Hence, shifting to another server or platform is cumbersome.

However, WordPress has made websites “shifting to” and “shifting away” process simple.

5. You are dependent upon the company that owns the platform where the website is being hosted.

If that portal closes down, so does your website, automatically.

However, this probability is rare as we are only discussing world-class web hosting companies here.

6. It’s not possible to import or modify applications and extensions, hence suitable only for small and medium volume websites.

All readymade template based themes have certain boundations; hence, a drawback in websites built on hosted platforms.

7. Sometimes, restrictions in some designing features might frustrate you, but at least one is prepared in-advance, to adapt within those limitations.

However, verifying if the specific restriction is from the hosting providers side or due to lack of knowledge at the website promoters end, is not difficult.

All said and done, the above discussion is based upon development of premium and exclusive websites only.

Clients for whom, design is more important than first-grade performance, may very well choose any option as both choices might satisfy their needs at the same level.

It’s possible to have a fully optimised website in the self-hosting system too.

The biggest living example is large companies owning them.

Nevertheless, it’s virtually impossible for modest and middle level companies to develop and optimise website of top class standard through self-hosting.

Acronym In Website Optimisation

Be it any field – Information Technology, Trading, Manufacturing or Service Sector : One comes across shortened phrases, distinctively used in each sphere.

Let us mention a few such initials interconnected with the website promotion, development and marketing profession.

The First Most Frequently Used Acronym In Website Optimisation Exercise

SEO – This is a commonly used Abbreviation In Website Building, Optimizing and Promoting activity.

This term stands for – Search Engine Optimization !

The word “SEO” sounds like as if it means optimising a website for search engines due to the alphabets S E and O respectively inside the shortened word.

However, it implies improving quality of websites in such an astute manner that it not only enables a better user-experience but also satisfies the technical needs of the robots vis a vis their online ranking criteria.

Maybe one could invent a substitute initial here – OWUS i.e. “Optimizing A Website For Users And Search”, which might equally well define the subject.

Acronyms In Website Optimisation and Marketing

The website optimisation and marketing exercise can also be termed as SEOM, which includes all tasks, such as On-page and Off-page SEO, SMM, PPC, CPC, SEM and SMO and some some parts of the web development and design too.

Is it possible for a web page to rank high organically, even if it not optimised for the crawlers ?

I would have answered YES, if asked this question 15 years ago.

As times have changed and so many SE algorithms, in place, enabling a fantastic user-experience, is, was and ought to be the first priority for any website.

There is too much competition in today’s world and many are improving their websites for both – the visitors as well as the robots.

In addition, one can find only 8 or 9 slots for placement on the first page of Google and Bing organic listings.

Hence, if you are cognizant of the fact that there is nothing better than an optimized website for your business growth, then it is advisable to elevate the same for both – The Users and The Crawlers.

For some, there is another way to keep progressing in life – Continuing with traditional forms of marketing like :

• Contact building
• Networking
• Working within a closed circle
• Socializing
• Pull
• Exchanging favors

Normally such forms of promotion end up consuming the entire mental energy and time available with the marketeer; ending up with him compromising on the quality of his product or service.

As competition is growing, only the ones saving financial and physical resources consumed in pre-sales, and utilizing the same on bettering own processes, will thrive.

Moreover, please do not ever try the opposite i.e. optimizing a website mainly for the robots keeping the audience as the second priority.

It will take you nowhere.

SEO encompasses two branches – “On-page” and “Off-page”.

The former incorporates :

• Producing unique and informative content,
• Creating relevant page titles,
• Writing appealing and topic specific headlines,
• Making interesting slides, animation pictures, PDF documents and explainer videos,
• Maintaining a balanced keyword density,
• Typing short paragraphs,
• Topical internal and outbound links,
• Enabling simple navigation,
• Ensuring smartphone compatibility,
• Publishing sensational and knowledgeable blogs,
• Entering sensible meta descriptions and image alt tags,
• Photo optimization and
• Facilitating fast loading speed.

This the primary requirement for a website because after all, this form of optimization embraces the most vital component in demand by the audience – “original and meaningful content”.

Nevertheless, that does not mean one could afford ignoring Off-page SEO.

This type of website optimization operation includes :

  • Sharing internal permalinks on top local directories,
  • Participating in discussions on authoritative sources like Quora, Reddit, Google Blogs etc.,
  • Promoting your content by uploading the same on your official accounts like YouTube Channel, Facebook Business Page, Pinterest Business Account, LinkedIn Company Page, Google Plus Brand Account etc.
  • Listing original videos and images on topmost social platforms,
  • Posting URL’s of articles on valuable sources online,
  • Using Bing and Google Webmasters Tools for reminding them of your website’s content,
  • Email marketing,
  • Cross-posting links on the internet,
  • Verifying your official details on Google Maps and Bing Places,
  • Insertions in press releases,
  • Selective use of bookmarking websites and
  • Sharing your knowledge in relevant group and forum discussions.

The primary purpose of such type of practice is gathering distinct backlinks to your website.

Having said that, it does not mean that On-page SEO cannot generate valuable backlinks.

It does.

However, in most cases Off-page optimisation proves more effective in manufacturing inbound links for a website.

It’s like, many would know that a particular sportsperson has won an Olympic Medal by watching the show live at the stadium (somewhat similar to On-page Optimization).

But, many more would know about the event through TV (relatively identical to Off-page SEO).

However, despite being in much lower number than the viewers in the latter case, the spectators as in the former scenario might provide a higher conversion rate because they would be the ones more likely to be interested in the activity.

That is why On-page Optimization always rules above Off-page SEO.

But, one needs to work hard on both forms of website optimization.

Informative content with spectacular SEO is the : INPUT

Distinguished Incoming Links is the : OUTPUT.

To clarify further – Off-page optimization is an unpaid form of promotion.

One more abbreviated word directly related to promotional activities –

SMO – Another Acronym in Website Optimisation business, signifying : Social Media Optimization.

This procedure is again a free mode of promotion on portals like YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, Google Plus, LinkedIn, Twitter etc.

Hence, “SMO” is a branch of “Off-page optimisation” as the latter embraces much more than just promotion on networking platforms, as it also involves :

  • Using Bing and Google Webmaster Console,
  • Adding your official address on local maps,
  • Exposing your brand on blogging platforms, bookmarking websites, SlideShare, Microsoft One Drive etc.

as mentioned above.

Whereas SMO is confined to promotional activities like posting and sharing content and URL’s on social networks and maximizing the utilization of embedding features available within those portals.

The Second Routinely Familiar Abbreviation In Website Building Sector

URL – A shortened phrase for : “Uniform Resource Locator”.

It refers to the TLD (top-level domain) of either any website or a permalink of a web page, blog, film, image or document (viewable or downloadable) online.

For example,, is the TLD or the main domain address.

But, clicking the URL – will lead you either to a web page, article, picture, file, movie or any downloadable or viewable file, “created on” or “uploaded to” that website.

The Third Common Abbreviation In Website Building Industry

HTTPS – This term describes : “Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure”.

An encrypted version of the HTTP protocol, which was non-secure prefix command for internet addresses, until recently.

So, websites are shifting to a safer mode, to protect from hacking attempts, keep browsing data and communication on the server, private.

Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla etc. display a padlock icon in the address bar, which may be either the secured or non-secure version of any URL.

https url's in websites

HTTPS URL’s in Websites

The world’s top web hosting service provider – WordPress assigns the HTTPS protocol for all websites, blogs, videos, web pages and documents hosted on its platform.

When anyone types a URL (with or without the protocol) of a web page, built on WordPress, then the browser fetches the specific internet address in the protected version, automatically.

The Fourth Usual Abbreviation In Website Building Procedures

1. UX – The initial represents : “User-experience”.

This function encompasses all designing features required to provide an exciting experience to the online visitors.

Providing the best possible information on a product or service, to the audience, is the key goal of a high-caliber website.

Nevertheless, yielding the same description in an entertaining way is the icing on the cake.

Better :

  • Clarity,
  • Simplicity,
  • Vibrancy,
  • Format style,
  • Mobile responsiveness,
  • Animated gif images,
  • Subtleness in visual components and
  • Explainer video animations

if complimented with attractive styling, increase human interaction, manifold.

Some of the technical processes UX-designers undertake, are :

A. Wireframes – These are blueprints representing a web page layout, either created on paper, sketch boards or on computer programs.

A wireframe is a visual framework depicting arrangement of content and navigation within a particular web page.

This process helps website artists plan out how, when and where to show in different web pages.

B. Design – The next step generally undertaken in the UX Styling assignment is deciding the fonts, colors, videos and photos to be included within the finalized wireframe structure.

C. Testing – This stage pertains to evaluating the website by asking users to view and navigate the same and deciding the final model based on exploring how they interact with it.

D. Interactive Content – Creating storyboard films, PowerPoint files and whiteboard animations is one of the last crucial steps in UX designing.

2. UI – An example of one more abbreviation in website building and styling practice.

A shortened term for : “User-interface”.

This exercise is associated towards enabling features such as Error-free browsing, usability, touch or voice based elements in mobile versions of web pages, dropdown lists, input in checkboxes, search fields etc.

UI and UX in website development

User-interface and User-experience in Websites

Generating an impactful impression on the audience is not all about beautiful designing.

In fact,

  • Animated menus,
  • Java based slideshows,
  • Using too many colors,
  • Interactive buttons,
  • Flash components or
  • Splash pages

are either crawler-unfriendly, or reduce loading speed, cause congestion or else complicate navigation.

The Fifth Standard Acronym In Website Optimisation Sphere

SERP – An abbreviation for : “Search Engine Results Page”.

This phrase pertains to what a crawler displays on its page after someone types one or more keywords in the search bar.

The said results page may dispense the following kind of listings :

  • Organic
  • Paid
  • Local Area
  • Blogs, Images, Documents, Videos etc.

what does the search engine results page show

What Does A Search Engine Results Page Show ?

Everyone wants his website to list on the front page of the SERP’s.

Me too.

The lazy way to do that is opt for paid advertising on Google AdWords, Facebook Marketing, Bing Ads and so on.

The difficult technique however, is to list your website free, on natural as well as local map listings.

One may easily list in the paid section of SERP’s, by spending a handsome amount of money even if that website produces a poor user-experience.

Nevertheless, such sites generate a high bounce rate, which further damages it’s already low rankings on organic result listings !

A high bounce rate, in general means that that a visitor will exit your website within seconds of opening your front page.

One can generalize in this context because, normally the home page leads you to the rest of the pages within your website.

However, if you have a single page website, in that case a high bounce rate is not a bad thing, because the user obviously does not have an option to browse more pages within your website.

Or else, for example if any visitor reaches one of your blog posts, either through natural search or paid-ad for that matter, even then a high bounce rate is understandable.

Nevertheless, there are many websites rendering a great user-experience, positioned highly on organically, but still advertise online for an additional boost to visibility.

And that’s OK.

It may be a costly affair – spending on optimization and digital advertising.

If budget is a constraint, then it is advisable for website owners to bid-adieu to laziness and concentrate on uplifting the quality of their content and SEO functionalities.

Natural online exposure proves much more beneficial in the long run, as :

• Such websites have an enduring visibility,

• It gives one, an opportunity to improvise,

• Most people click on organic listings as they know that one can be assured of obtaining the best information there.

No pain, No Gain.

Generally, SEO is a one-time-exercise that requires a lot of time, effort and a considerable amount of money; but it is worth all that, if one is serious about his business and has a professional approach in life.

Having said that it’s not like optimizing a website only once, in the literal sense.

It’s just that most of the energy and resources required for optimising a website, is consumed during the construction stage.

SEO proves to be a cheaper option in the long-run as compared to paid Ads, which need lifelong and recurring monthly expenditure to maintain online traffic.

After that, creating valuable and fresh content on a regular basis would suffice, provided minor updates in the website SEO mechanism needed off and on, are carried out.

The biggest advantage for optimising your website would be getting used to making an effort for improvising the same, to remain competitive.

The Sixth Typical Acronym In Website Optimisation Techniques

SEM – This is a shortened term for : “Search Engine Marketing”.

This concept is different from SEO.

When one says – Website Optimization, it is assumed that the person is talking about either “On-page” or “Off-page SEO” or both.

Nevertheless, SEM means promoting a website through paid advertisements on search engines.

Normally, the modes for such activities are Google AdWords or Bing Ads.

Remember – SEM is different than Off-page optimization.

As already mentioned above, Off-page SEO is an unpaid form of website marketing !

Whereas, SEM is a paid type of promotion.

For example, if you are opting for Bing Ads or Google Adwords then obviously those are chargeable.

Whereas, if one is copying and pasting own permalinks on his LinkedIn Company Page, or using the Webmasters Console, then that would fall under the category of Off-page optimization.

This type of SEO is a much wider line than SEM as the latter is just confined to (paid) internet marketing on Google, Bing etc.

Off-page SEO is a very wide arena as it not only involves promotion on social media and search engines but also incorporates activities like :

• Participating in discussions on authoritative websites like New York Times, CNN, ESPN, NASA etc. (provided the articles there are related to your field),

• Promoting content on popular websites like YouTube, Facebook, Skype, Dropbox etc.,

• Using Webmaster Tools

and much more.

Then one comes across another recurrent abbreviation interconnected with SEM :

SMM – An initial for : Social Media Marketing.

This promotional activity is a payable form of advertising on digital networking portals.

Hence, SMM is a branch of SEM because the latter embodies both :

A. Paid promotion on social networks

B. Search engines as well.

Few more acronyms and abbreviations in the overall website optimization, promotion and construction area –

1. CPC and PPC – These are initials for the terms “Cost-per-click” and “Pay-per-click”, respectively.

To elaborate, CPC is what one would pay for each click one receives through his online advertisement.

Whereas PPC denotes the “title name” of the paid internet marketing medium.

2. SEOM – Another abbreviation in website building, optimising and advertising arena.

A narrative describing the phrase “Search Engine Optimisation and Marketing”.

website search engine optimisation and marketing

Website Optimisation and Marketing

SEOM is a field covering website promotion and construction in the widest possible manner, as optimization is generally undertaken alongside development; and marketing is the last step in achieving the goal of a website – i.e. procuring new customers from unknown markets.

This operation includes all tasks involved in the business of websites !

Explaining the meaning of SEOM, in detail, would be futile as most of the actions concerned, are mentioned above, already.

Avoidable Processes In SEO

The procedure of website construction and search engine optimization consists of many functions.

As there seems to be more than 200 parameters for online rankings, it’s difficult to spell out all the Avoidable Processes in SEO for websites.

Typical Instances of Avoidable Processes in SEO

Examples of Unwarranted Practice in Organic Web SEO :

1. Keyword Stuffing in Page Body, Titles or Descriptions – Some end up employing this strategy, either to :

  • Generate authority over a certain key phrase (done intentionally)

or else

  • Due to lack of knowledge.

However, websites become Google and Bing non-compliant if the same technique is carried out in Title Tags and Descriptions.

In addition, Keyword Stuffing in the text body, makes web pages virtually unreadable.

This method is an inappropriate practice in organic web SEO and development and ends up being labeled as creating “Doorway Pages”.

Tactics One Should Never Practice in Organic Web SEO

2. Hidden Text – A method intentionally implemented in an attempt to gain visibility for a set of keywords.

For example, a sentence in white color against a white background is inserted which actually does not cause any erosion in user-observation.

However, spiders can read words invisible to humans.

The crawlers due to obvious reasons, hate such kind of approaches and lower the grading of those sites.

An unfortunate practice in organic web SEO and production, which some newcomers execute.

Examples of Negative Practices in Website Optimization

3. Content Scrapping – Another scenario emerging either due to a procedure undertaken knowingly or unintentionally.
Copied and Pasted :

• Sentences,
• Images and
• Videos

from other websites is an exercise that is carried out with full cognizance.

However :

• Identical Headlines,
• Repeated Page Titles and
• Duplicate Meta Descriptions

are procedures which can be assumed either being undertaken intentionally or mistakenly.

In either scenario, the robots do not appreciate such acts and misdeeds.

Hence, amongst the top few Avoidable Processes in SEO, significantly duplicate content is punishable by Google and Bing.

4. Cloaking – A process aiming to mislead the engines into believing that a particular web page is relevant to its name, but is unspecific or far less topical in reality.

Content relevance towards Domain URL and Page Title is a crucial aspect, the crawlers value in websites.

Surely, such redundant optimisation strategies, employed by some are intentional in nature, hence punishable by the spiders.

So, cloaking is a poor practice in organic web SEO, and best if terminated immediately.

5. Link Spam – Backlinks from authoritative sources are the top mode to improve traffic and positioning.

The internet is flooded with automatic link creation software.

The robots are on the hunt day and night relentlessly for websites trying to gain visibility through artificial means.

Hence, a classic exemplar of a disastrous practice in organic web SEO and promotion which one needs to stop ASAP.

6. A Headline Identical to the Page Name – Headers and Titles are essential elements of content in websites.

Although this issue is not so serious, as the top headline may be the same as the page title, but writing a second or third heading similar to it’s page name is another specimen of the various Avoidable Processes in SEO.

Such an exercise should be prevented to increase chances of retaining users on your site for slightly greater periods.

7. Long Domains, Website Name, URL’s, Page Titles, Headers and Paragraphs

• Better not to create “Domains” larger than 14 to 15 characters or containing numericals and punctuations.

However, the maximum limit in this regard is 63 letters, but such are impossible to remember.

• Better to restrict the number of letters (including numerals and symbols) in “Website Names” to 40 letters.

• Though there is no restriction on characters including digits, hyphens, underscores, brackets, question marks etc. in “Slugs”, but normally a good idea to :

a. Exclude numericals,
b. Aim to contain them within 35 to 55 letters and
c. Avoid inserting more than five words.

Such advice is based on general web requirements keeping effectiveness and reasonability in mind.

• For obvious reasons, it’s impossible for crawlers to display overly long “Titles”.

One with, let us say 500 letters might end up consuming one entire page on Bing or Google organic listing result.

So a 55 to 65 character limit is recommended to enable being presented in full on SERP’s.

Such conditions have been put in place to create a balance between User-requirements and Visibility-needs of website owners.

As Page Titles are vital elements assisting in optimizing sites, the above is a recommended practice in organic web SEO.

• “Headlines” lesser than five or six characters are inevitably non-descriptive.

And, the ones greater than 65 to 70 letter may be considered as “verbose”.

Surely, a rambling Header is part of the many Avoidable Processes in SEO.

Such text matter, if not written in an appropriate fashion, causes loss of interest with the audience.

Hence we suggest adding Headings of anywhere between 40 to 60 characters.

• “Overly Long Paragraphs” are difficult to read and the readers lose interest in such cases.

Break your paras into short sentences to enable users reading words with ease in the Text Body.

8. Purchasing Incoming Links – Probably the most negative method to optimize a website for search engines !

The audience would not know if any site develops popularity through this medium but the spiders are experts at catching and punishing people for buying links.

Another unwarranted Practice in Organic Web SEO which necessarily needs to be eliminated.

9. Paying for Positive Reviews and Testimonials on Own Website – As mentioned above – Another tactic which is definitely penalized by the robots.

A modus operandi to impress followers, but this tactic falls under black-hat site optimisation tactics.

Google and Bing can identify if one tries building online traffic through paid testimonials.

Optimising Websites for Local Search

10. Unrelated Keywords – Users want relevant knowledge, which helps them in deciding to purchase a service or a product that site is selling.

Nevertheless, using irrelevant key phrases in a mismatch with either the Domain Name or Page Title, irritates visitors.

So, non-topic related key phrases also fall within The list of Avoidable Processes in SEO, and should be rectified.

Sometimes people unsatisfied with marketing only a certain line of products and services but need prominence on some other sectors too alongside, undertake such actions.

However, Google and Bing recommend developing separate sites for commodities or professions that are unrelated towards the “Main URL” and the “Website Title”.

11. Participating in Spam Blogs – It is tempting to drive more traffic towards your site.

And also easy to gain backlinks through such means, which eventually spikes up placement on SERP’s.

However, deploying these methods is another specimen of the Avoidable Processes in SEO for websites.

12. Pingback Scam – This modus operandi comprises of using software to ping different servers every few minutes to convey them of fresh content on your pages.

Once again, an exercise, which falls under the black-hat type Practice in Organic Web SEO !
Download our slide presentation on – Why Optimise Websites ? : Informative content is useful for visitors. High-value backlinks improve user-experience and rankings on search engines.

Specimens of Avoidable Processes in SEO :

13. No In-house Blog – Posting articles related to your field of activity sends a positive message to both : Visitors as well as Google / Bing.

An article section is a prime constituent of any site, as it aids in gathering visibility as well as procuring new clients.

14. Spamming Digital Media Networks – It’s advisable to act in a controlled fashion on such sites.

It is tempting to post as much as possible about yourself on such platforms.

However, it becomes frustrating for hundreds or thousands of your followers if they keep seeing your posts all the time.

The spiders might take that kind of spamming on social portals, lightly, but your connections will not.

15. Paid Advertisements – Avoid cluttering your site with Ads and Pop-ups.

Such activities complicate layouts and it becomes hard to differentiate between the “Main Content” and “a Promotional Banner” in such cases.

16. JavaScript – Avoid using too much of Java-Script and Widgets in your site.

Excessive JavaScript slows loading speed makes it slightly tougher for spiders to scan your website.

17. Flash – Do not use Flash Program for animations inside your pages.

It’s only partly compatible with websites and unstable on many occasions.

Try to use HTML5 as a substitute to flash animations.

18. Animated MenusAvoid animations in buttons and links inside your pages.

Interactive design in websites is best suited when used in vibrant gif images, explainer videos, storyboard animation movies or slideshows.

Image based or animated menus are avertible because the robots find it hard to read the text within such type of links and buttons.

19. Slow Loading Speed – Both : Visitors and Crawlers appreciate quickly navigable websites.

Sluggish browsing rate produces a displeasing user-understanding, hence an important factor to keep in mind.

Poor Optimisation Produces Bad Websites

20. Thin Content – Insufficient text or limited number of images is another disadvantageous factor in pages.

It’s crucial to write short paragraphs in sufficient numbers and insert at least 3 to 4 images on each page or article.

21. Not Eliminating Unnatural Inbound Links – Backlinks from top authors and quality sources are a prized possession for any website.

Having said that, sometimes unwanted sites connect with yours without your knowledge.

Some of those might be from spammers.

Use the disavow tool in your webmaster console to remove shady inward links from dead or suspicious websites.

Or else the spiders might suspect that you probably bought those sources.

22. Using Too Many Stock Photos – Add self-designed or owned pictures, slides and videos in pages.

Uploading images downloaded from free-sharing websites, in excess, reduces uniqueness and originality.

23. Ignoring Comments on Social Media – Always answer questions and opinions from the audience on such networks.

This habit will help establish a connection with followers and enable customer procurement in future.

24. Over-optimizing Anchor Text – Such techniques face penalty from crawlers, from now on.

A landmark development one must say.

Till recently, an exact anchor text leading to your landing page was a notable factor for achieving high online positioning.

However, after updates in algorithms, this routine exercise on the contrary is now a hurdle for websites striving for strong positioning.

Reason being : Misuse of this strategy just like the webmasters exploited the Keyword Tag in the past.

25. Not Sharing Others Stuff – Always share posts by your friends, subscribers and connections on social websites.

Spiders do not appreciate people sharing own content only.

26. Ignoring Broken Links – Internal and outgoing links, sometimes result in 404 errors as time progresses.

Hence, to optimize your website, make sure to check if you forgot to update or remove the same.

Broken links dispense a bad user-judgment and definitely need to be eliminated.

27. Inconsistent Headline Tags – Write Headings in a chronological order – like H1, H2, H3 and so on, instead of something like H1, H4, H3.

Or else the robot might wonder as to why such a method has been deployed.

One more devastating practice in organic web SEO and construction.

28. Not Adding Your Contact Information – Hiding your official address on your website is a big mistake.

You can prove the authenticity of your business or profession and also build trust with the spiders if you claim your NAP listing on Google and Bing.

Mention your complete address, phone and email ID inside your site.

29. Zero Linking – Have at least one internal and outgoing link respectively, in all pages and blogs.

Inadequate internal linking gives an impression as if different web pages or articles within a site are non-related.

The term “Web” originates from relevance and connectivity.

In addition, non-topical sites find it difficult to establish a recognition on the internet.

An identity is essential to create brand awareness – which further assists in acquiring new leads and buyers from untapped markets.

A website is not meant to be a showcase for existing customers.

Instead, a site is useful only if it helps in tapping unknown clients.

Adding at least one outbound link to any informative and high-value page enables customers to evaluate and compare your details with top ranked sources.

This assists clients in deciding and evaluating whether to buy your service or product, or not.

Hence, zero linking regardless being internal or external is a critical error while building a website.

30. Mobile-unfriendly Design – Smartphone compatibility and responsiveness is an important feature one should incorporate in websites.

Many customers browse the internet through handsets, nowadays.

On top of that, responsive sites enjoy preference on Google and Bing in comparison with the non-adaptive ones.

31. Uploading Low-resolution Pictures – It’s important to add high-resolution images and videos in websites.

Hazy photos and unclear movies produce a bad impression.

Such visual content spoils reputation in market circles on one hand and disappoints the robots too.

32. Excluding or Omitting a “Direction Map” in your Home or Contact PageLocation Maps in Websites help in gaining trust with customers and clients, as well as optimization for local listings on the SERP’s.

33. Non-optimized Videos and Images – Some common mistakes by site owners regarding matters related to photo and movie files in websites below :

  • Disregarding Picture Alt attributes – Alt tags describe photos through words or short sentences.

Inserting Alt tags to images sends a positive signal to the spiders and improves crawlability of your site.

Screen readers for the visually impaired automatically convert such text into sound, thus making your photos accessible to them.

• Heavy Images – Inserting raw pictures without compression result in large file sizes.

Using a picture compression software before uploading images is the best way to solve this problem.

That is a harmless procedure, as in most cases it’s possible to reduce the file size to roughly half without compromising the picture quality.

So, the issue of extra large size photos, is a module falling in the List of The Avoidable Processes in SEO as the same contributes in yielding non-optimized websites.

• Forgetting Writing the Description for Movies or Captions for Pictures – It’s always better to add a caption for images and a meta description for videos !

Inserting picture captions and meta descriptions for movies is standard practice during the optimization exercise, commonly followed by most website production experts.

Google and Bing value quality content. And adding details to your photos and videos will surely enhance the same and create an impression on the crawlers.

34. Complicated Navigation – Simple browsing functionality with ease in finding information is a major requirement in web pages.

A website with a congested structure and architecture yields a high bounce rate.

Pages and Blogs answering common buyer questions like “why”, “how”, “what” and “when”, in an uncomplicated manner aids in higher sales and growth in companies.

35. Haphazard Formatting – Appealing layouts with appropriate headers and clutter-free details is a commonly found feature in quality websites.

Clear sentences in large fonts and easily clickable links aid in client procurement and retention.

Complex design with a congested look, render a distasteful experience.

36. Lack of Security – Malware loaded websites furnish a negative user-experience.

No one would ever return to your page if his/her computer gets affected due to any phishing attack.

37. Listing Irrelevant Categories for Articles – Publish more blogs under a particular category rather than too many categories with minimal amount of articles under each.

38. Complicated Contact Forms – Sometimes one comes across “To-be-filled Forms” which require too much “input data”.

Surely, this is one of the Avoidable Processes in SEO for websites.

Simplify the same by making only one or two “to-be-filled fields” as “mandatory”.

39. Linking through Images – An exemplar of another undesirable Practice in Organic Web SEO !

Always link through a text based URL Slug !

Never create internal or outbound links through photos or else on some occasions the robots may not index that content.

It’s unlikely that any user would move his/her cursor around all images to check which one is clickable.

What Is A User-friendly Site

One comes across commonly used terms like Great User-experience, Visitor-friendly Website etc. quite frequently, if one is discussing the subject of developing and optimizing websites.

How and Why to develop and optimize websites in accordance with specified norms ?

visitor-friendly websites

What is a User-friendly Site ?

Of course SEO – An Acronym for Search Engine Optimisation is a prime component related to this subject.

Having said that, awesome content is one of the most important elements needed inside websites.

The top two advantages for developing Visitor-friendly pages –

First – A website which is audience-friendly is the most important requirement for achieving a high organic positioning on the top search engines like Google and Bing.

No one wants to visit a user-unfriendly website.

Hence, to maintain supremacy over other crawlers, Google and Bing give the highest priority to this factor.

Surely, in case of any dilution in policy on this aspect, these spiders will lose traffic, which will eventually make a dent in their revenues generated through paid advertising.

Second – Building a visitor-friendly website is the top priority for any company which is fully cognizant of how valuable the same are.

An audience-friendly web page :

  • Proves to be a strong marketing tool,
  • Generates leads,
  • Helps businesses and professionals increase sales turnover, popularity, reputation and growth by reaching unknown buyers from and new clients from untapped markets and
  • Delivers better sales results in comparison to traditional marketing techniques.

However, there are many who are unaware of how powerful search engine compatible websites can be for their professions.

Unfortunately, such people end up ignoring the crucial need for web page SEO, due to either a non-serious approach or else lack of awareness.

Improving User-experience in Sites is SEO

The purpose of a website is attracting new clients, instead of using it as a showcase for existing customers.

What is a User-friendly Site and Why to Optimize Websites ?

1. Useful Content – Text, images, videos, slides, links, page titles and article posts are essential ingredients of “Quality Content” in websites.

Question : What is a User-friendly Site and How to Develop them ?

Answer : Enabling “Helpful Content Inside Websites”.
Download PDF Document below, mentioning the requirements, reasons and benefits of descriptive meta tags, text headers and topical keywords in websites :
Web Pages with –

  • Spam-free and meaningful sentences and paragraphs,
  • Descriptive pictures,
  • Topic specific videos,
  • Interesting page titles,
  • Easily readable words,
  • Relevant internal and outbound links,
  • Informative Articles
  • Designed slides and
  • Instructional and unique text

are all deemed to contain useful content and are search engine compatible too.
Download PDF File below, explaining the need for helpful content and page names to improve visibility and ranking on the top search engines :

2. Simple Navigation – Easy browsing functionality on both desktops as well as smartphones is another important feature while making a user-friendly website.

Clutter-free pages with clear navigation help customers understand the product or service any website is marketing or selling.

Well-formatted layouts, properly aligned sentences and pictures are some of the other the necessary requirements enabling intuitive browsing.

Hence, it is crucial for pages to have easy navigation facility as this vital feature auto-optimises websites to a large extent and also helps in procuring unknown buyers, new followers, users and enables better sales.

Websites with –

• Outgoing links leading to irrelevant counterparts,
• Disorienting images,
• Difficult-to-find information and
• Automatic pop-up windows

frustrate users and become inevitably visitor-unfriendly by default.

What is Great User-experience ?

Factors like –

• Attractive Design,
• Genuine Text and Infographic Material,
• Whiteboard Animations,
• Clear Navigation,
• Useful Links,
• Explainer Videos,
Domain Relevant Focus
• Animated Photos,
• Unique Page Titles,
• Striking and Interesting Headlines,
• Well-aligned Layouts,
• Informative Articles and Original Blogs,
• Mobile Phone Compatibility,
• Image Captions,
• Short Paragraphs,
• Easily Clickable Links and
• Original and Readable Sentences

all combine together to generate a great user-experience in websites.

Pages with –

• Duplicate or irrelevant information,
• Shabby design,
• Low-resolution photos,
• Difficult-to-read text,
• Keyword stuffing,
• Broken or Non-clickable links,
• Complicated browsing,
• Unrelated headings and titles,
• Spammy blogs,
• Unappealing colors,
• Smartphone Non-compatible elements,
• Too many Advertisements and
• Congested Formatting

all produce a bad user-experience.

What is Web-Spam ?

Techniques like –

  • Purchasing Backlinks,
  • Cloaking,
  • Irrelevant Text Headers,
  • Overuse of Keyword Meta Tags,
  • Hidden or Invisible Words,
  • Link Farms,
  • Guest Blog Spam,
  • Doorway Pages,
  • Mirror Sites,
  • Using Backlinks Production Software,
  • Links through “full-stops” and
  • Key-phrase Stuffing in Description MetaTags

fall under the category of black-hat SEO, and penalized by Google and Bing.

Designing Animations And Videos For Websites

Explainer movies, slides, interactive gif images and storyboard films are some of the significant elements needed inside websites.

Several portals are offering options to create dynamic Web Animations and Videos, Slide Presentations and Explainer Movies helping in generating a strong impact on visitors.

Mentioning features in the free trial versions of some such animated whiteboard video and film creation platforms below in brief, (one’s already mentioned in previous blogs, excluded) –

making website animations and explainer videos

Making Web Animations and Videos

1. Moovly – Fantastic Software. The most powerful feature in this platform being the ability to use in-house movie clips as backgrounds for creating interactive websites.

A rare facility indeed. The choice of background sound files within this portal is immaculate.

2. PowToon – Another remarkable platform for building storyboard movies, web animations and videos.

The Animate “A to B” property is very handy. That helps in moving objects positions, sizes and angles.

The provision to export the completed project to SlideShare is another positive here.

3. Animatron – Probably the best online program for producing text motion graphics.

The immense variety of bouncing and rotating words and alphabets on this website makes it worth trying, for sure.

Customer support is quite satisfactory.

4. Wideo – This website gives a scammy feeling, to some extent.

All the hard work one puts in here goes waste unless one chooses the paid plan after completing the video !

One wonders why this platform offers a trial period as the output is neither embeddable, nor shareable or downloadable after the end of the try-out period.

Nowhere apart from the fine print terms and conditions, states this drawback.

The finished product just ineffectually lies idle on the server and invisible to outsiders.

All such websites clearly specify the limitations and restrictions for the trial period, but this portal is the only one which does not highlight this fact.

One has no other choice left but to either opt for the paid plan or else just reconcile with the fact that all the hard work in the production process went waste.

A flash based software, which is another negative due to compatibility problems after embedding on own site.

One also shockingly comes across a highly uncooperative customer support staff online here.

5. Renderforest – Another below par program like Wideo, above.  But for other reasons.

This website, by default, adds a large watermark right in the center of the movie and to top that, a voice-over is inserted automatically at the end of the film.

6. VideoScribe – The best website to make animations and motion commercials in the least possible time.

An extremely simple platform to understand and use.

Amazing customer support and high quality in-house objects and images available in its media library.

This website has an immaculate collection of background audio tracks too.

Finally, ready-made interactive gif images are available inside the media library, freely usable to complete an artistic animation.

Talking about features in the free trial versions of some slide creation platforms below in brief (one’s already mentioned in previous articles, excluded) –

1. Visme – A beautiful site for creating topical slides, images and infografic content.

It has a large variety of vibrant background pictures as well as textures.

A website providing wonderful customer support and ease in producing embeddable presentations and downloadable photos.

The media quality is truly high resolution too.

2. Slides – Probably considered as the best program for presentation creation.

Undoubtedly a leading portal for making such type of media files.

This website offers very limited backgrounds and templates but maybe ends up being one of the most effective one out of all.

Having said that, all the platforms above helping in designing animated clips and slides are far more robust in their paid versions.

Finally, as already mentioned above, apart from web animations and videos

are the prime components which help in creation of optimized and user-friendly websites.

Website Industry In India

There are at present more than five million registered domains in this country.

Out of these, only around 40% of the URL’s are functional as websites, currently.

.com remains the most popular TLD with roughly 56% of market share.

The recent CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) in the sector is around 12%.

The Potential of Growth of the Website Industry in India

A large portion of local sites are just like cars parked on the side of a road with a running engine but unwilling to move further.

How Politics Affects Internet Service in India

One can study the government’s interference in the IT Sector and the Website Industry in India, from both angles – favourable or unfavourable.

First Positive For Optimism About The Internet Sector In The Country:

Large Percentage of Small Businesses –

We are a country with a substantial portion of undersized enterprises scattered around in each and every city.

Maybe we have the biggest ratio of compact firms and self-employed professionals compared to any other nation.

Due to an enormous populace, salaries are meagre, hence job satisfaction levels are low.

The desire for owning a business or consultancy firm is common here.

Hence, the potential of website demand is quite prominent.

It is more likely for a self-employed person to own a professional website as compared to an executive for whom a few free web pages on Google Sites might suffice.

This factor is truly a favorable one for the further improvement in the Website Industry in India.

First Hurdle For The Progress Of The Digital Market In The Nation :

Low Per Capita Income and Price Sensitivity –

We are a country with a humongous population – which is the second most prominent curse on us.

The existence of public sector undertakings is the biggest weakness and the main reason for poverty.

Hence, due to socialism and populism, Politics Affects Internet too, in a detrimental manner here.

politics affects internet in india

Politics Affects Internet Service in an Adverse Way in India

Unfortunately, even the present administration is not practicing the indispensable reform – which requires a complete sell-off of PSU’s.

This reform is a matter of life-and-death for our country.

GST, Demonetization etc. even though important, fade in contrast to inevitable effectiveness of “Disinvestment”.

In the last 100 years, the world has witnessed formation of thousands of different governments which have practiced everything except pure capitalism till now.

However, only two countries have outperformed – USA and China.

The reason is quite simple – both have privatized their PSU’s.

If one argues that nations with a large landmass enjoy an advantage, then why is the Singapore GDP per capita so strong ?

Unfortunately – Governments in the past never learnt.

Keep restructuring and continue designating honest officials inside PSU’s for the next 1000 years – But the net result overall, will be same.

Often, they start coming up with new experimental formulas for growth, in the greed of making an eternal name in the history books, for themselves.

Moreover, they sometimes come up with innovative rules, with formulas in PPP, in the process of trying to prove a point that they invented a better policy than USA.

They carry out magical experiments in reducing corruption and increasing efficiency in PSU’s, at the expense of the taxpayer.

However, magic never works. Capitalism increases national wealth, which in turn is distributed amongst the population in a natural way.

Just let the ITDC management take over the Taj Palace Hotel for two years and then see the result.

Most likely, it will witness a massive drop in occupancy rates due to incapable management.

They might slash tariffs for reaching full occupancy levels.

Then the hotel would run at a no-profit-no-loss basis and slowly go bankrupt within a decade.

Then the officials would again find it difficult to reduce tariffs, as they would require additional funds to help the same to survive bankruptcy.

Then gradually that property will start running at a very slight profit, after a series of warnings from the authorities.

It goes on forever. That is the true picture of the Indian Economy.

In such a situation the hotel will not only be a contributor to lesser foreign exchange earnings, but it will also contribute towards higher national unemployment due to zero expansion.

It seems the administration thinks that it can reduce retrenchment through public sector jobs.

They have no idea – Trying to create government jobs is the best way to kill an economy.

The result of all these tactics has been low per capita income and slow progress.

Or else at the cost of honest PSU’s, you end up with a 1% GDP growth rate like in most of Western Europe.

Why do people want to migrate to Switzerland instead of Germany ?

Alternatively to USA instead of Canada ?

The answer is the same as above – Private Sector Domination.

Under a low per capita income, many users here, find websites unaffordable, if one looks at the larger picture.

The average national buying power is not sufficient.

Despite lower tariffs than before, the level of vigilance is now so intense that one is paying all that one used to save as black money, in tax.

Eradication of black market is important.

However, since wealth concealment is immensely down, one notices only a marginal decrease in the income tax rates.

A country whose strength used to be high level of savings is facing a rock-bottom level of savings now.

A scarce savings rate leads to dismal expansion and modernization.

That also hampers the growth in the number and quality of websites.

A typical example of how Politics Affects Internet field in an unpleasant way.

One also comes across hundreds of advertisements everyday claiming building your company’s website for just Rs. 10000/-, as they know that the consumer is price sensitive.

They are able to produce at such low cost because the kind of sites they build for that much are such inferior grade that one ends up wasting even that small amount of Rs. 10000/-.

Such fraudulent activities by few web development companies have sent an extremely misleading signal to the public, at large.

Such cheap sites are not even worth a penny because the features inside them have extreme limitations.

One of the reasons why the masses here find websites useless. They don’t want to pay for Optimization.

Sites are the easiest mode for lead generation as they work out more efficient than traditional marketing.

We have come across businessmen who spend money on hosting seminars and newspaper and TV advertisements, but find website optimisation expensive.

However, the prospective customer normally never learns about those limitations because research is like a hobby here, and actual placement of an order does not happen easily.

The public has too much time at hand to freely move around, browse, make calls and visit offices to just meet service providers and enquire and learn about what they are doing.

Keeping such quotations in mind, there are many who do not want to pay for a site, even when they finally decide to have one after 10 years of study.

They feel surprised when any real professional supplies them his price list for developing an optimized website.

One believes what he wants to believe.

On top of that, one comes across the variety – “Mr. Know It All”, kinds.

Some would simply study the tricks of web development, smartphone compatibility requirements and SEO for a month and start thinking they know as much as any other Mobile-friendly Website Developer !

They are the ones who literally build and try to optimize websites for free.

Then after seeing zero result on organic listings after 1 year, start believing that sites are useless, instead of realizing that lack of knowledge on the subject was the cause.

Finally, one finds a typical customer obsessed with design.

It is like a take-it or leave-it offer from them.

I don’t care – Give me a well-designed site or else I’m going to some other developer : A common line one may hear from a prospective client.

Most customers here, do not understand a simple fact that sites are useful only when they are user-friendly and provide quality information.

Well-designed pages with slide presentations and animations attract visitors – no doubt.

Nevertheless, for that one needs an audience first.

How would the user know that you have a beautifully designed website, until and unless he is able to find it online ?

One way to do that is opt for digital advertising.

But, Google or Bing will not put your URL address on page one in organic results just because you have a website which looks fabulous.

Search engines need informative content with visitor-friendly web pages.

And attractive design and layouts are just one of the components of a proper site.

So how is it humanly possible for experts to give equal priority to the look and optimization in any website ?

However, by the time the prospect reaches back his office, he forgets the lesson.

One piece of advice – There are some web developers who have separate design teams.

Therefore, if “the look” and “special effects” is such a high priority then we suggest getting a couple of online virtual tours or designer 3D walkthroughs made, for promotion, instead of devoting energy on sincerely designing your website.

You would waste all of your money invested in a website if you treat it just like an online catalogue because you will end up showing it only to the customers who visit your office.

The function of a website is to bring clients to your office, instead.

And the only way to achieve that is : “Optimizing” – Which requires creation of quality content, easy navigation, appropriate linking, domain URL selection, keyword research, appealing page titles, video animations, interesting pictures, animated slides and lots more.

If organic visibility is required, then please do not try to pressure your agency to inject fancy designs in your site.

Meaningful Sites Outrank Designer Websites on Google and Bing

Second Favorable Factor For Hopes Of Development Of The IT Sphere In India :

Big Economy –

Due to massive population, we are the 3rd largest market in the globe.

Having said that – A Large population does more harm than good : which is another matter.

However, this factor helps in enabling a huge demand of products and services.

Another element for a likely continuation of progress of the Website Industry in India.

Moreover, the number of existing sites does prove the point too.

The future if not bright, is at least better than before because moves like GST, Demonetization etc. are a slight advantage from the long-term perspective.

Second Reason For Pessimism In The Indian Online Promotion Bazaar :

Insecurity Due to Muscle Power, Corrupt Police, Outdated Laws and a Communist Constitution –

No matter what, with a polluted business atmosphere, websites are not a priority, here.

Work is conducted in a non-professional way, as professionalism requires modernization and investment.

Moreover, even if one does carry out that exercise, the cost of production goes up initially (it might come down later) which adds to another complexity.

A customer would feel more impressed with a supplier with sizeable office, big staff and an ordinary website

Another supplier who can be far more efficient having a smaller office, one staff member and a powerful website.

Then, lack of education and the influence of muscle power is a discouraging factor for establishments to upgrade processes and is restricting the growth of this sector under consideration, here.

India having the most corrupt police in the world, brings an extreme sense of insecurity inside the public.

On top of that, the outdated laws have made life very difficult to manage here.

It keeps changing every now and then.

This is exactly where the police exploit situations to their advantage, for bribes or else strategize to frame false charges against the innocent.

The more than 50-year-old constitution is flawed, illogical, communist and biased.

Therefore, the higher courts every now and then keep coming up with landmark amendments – which is the encouraging aspect.

However, as the lower courts are over-burdened with pending lawsuits, they cannot afford looking at cases from a standalone point of view.

They end up painting everyone with the same brush and the innocent end up being the victims.

The higher judicature is not that much over-burdened; hence provide justice, in most cases, if not all.

The only blessing in disguise as one ends up getting a fair judgement.

However, the problem is that an innocent is crushed for no reason for years in the lower courts, by the time a case reaches the higher judicature.

Moreover, the mischievous, filing fake cases enjoy the show for a long period, by spending a very little amount on lawyer fee.

All this corruption in the society, culture and environment has led to misery for an average individual.

One ends up saving for emergencies instead of investing in technology.

The masses have no other choice but to think “money” all the time because that is the only resource which can give them protection from the police or other emergencies.

But then even the common man is guilty to some extent falling in the trap laid down by the politicians to make them believe that a government’s focus should be equal priority towards :

  • Internal security,
  • Justice,
  • Defence,
  • Education,
  • Food,
  • Building infrastructure,
  • Healthcare services and
  • Welfare.

Unfortunately the masses have no idea that a government agencies providing subsidies is not helping them but actually making their lives more painful.

Undoubtedly, there is a dire need for twice the number of courts and half the size of the existing public sector employees.

So avoiding innovation is a compulsion here. People do not have the time or energy to invest in self-improvement.

A hard daily routine leaves no scope for ambition, enthusiasm or risk-taking measures.

Unfortunately, the politicians have been able to fool the people into believing that the government providing security and justice is all right but providing subsidies is also required.

A classic example how Politics Affects Internet Business as well as all sectors in a damaging way.

Third Encouraging Aspect About Promising Future Of The Indian Infotech Business :

GST, Aadhaar Card and Demonetization –

Economic reforms like Goods and Sales Tax, Aadhaar Card and Demonetization are slowly reducing the ratio of black money component in transactions.

Hence online payments in banking, shopping, guest houses and travel bookings and advertising are on the rise.

Cost of trading and manufacturing is rising, which is a consequence of an additional tax outflow.

The same is forcing companies to reduce wasteful expenditure.

Consumers have started realizing that websites are a cheaper and yield better sales and revenues in contrast to traditional marketing methods.

Businesses are hiring lesser employees and getting improved and smartphone-compatible pages for better sales.

Such changes are luring the competitors to have own sites too.

One more determinant for an attainable improvement of the Website Industry in India.

Third Discouraging Factor For Slow Advancement Of Computer Services In India :

Low Internet Penetration –

There are at present around 350 million online users here.

A very huge number indeed.

However, the percentage of connectivity penetration is muted.

The overall share of net accessibility is only about 30% in our country.

Shockingly, the leadership again steps in at this point by taking steps to invest in digital infrastructure for small towns.

Such subsidies and expenditure are curtailing the government in reducing taxes on large companies.

And it is not possible for big businesses to expand beyond a certain level due to the current level of tax slabs.

That curtails growth in the country as it deprives the villages of quick progress which only the private sector can produce.

Some of the other developing nations like Vietnam, Russia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Indonesia, Nigeria and Colombia have an above 50% penetration rate.

If one argues that, the same is low in India owing to an excessive population, then why is china in the “above 50% penetration bracket” ?

The main reason for this problem is that a majority of the populace resides in villages.

Since the rural areas have not progressed, they cannot afford to buy data services.

The villagers remain poor as the administration interferes in a commercial activity i.e. procurement of grains from the villagers.

If they exit the procurement and pricing control on agricultural produce, we will see an inflow of a massive private investment in agriculture.

Consequently, that move will drastically reduce poverty.

They will have to overcome their inferiority complex as that is what leads to the ideology of providing subsidies to the poor.

Such moves are not reducing poverty – on the contrary they create more poor in the villages.

Another instance of how Politics Affects Internet Business in a harmful manner.

Fourth Convincing Facet For The Progression Of Cyberspace Zone In India :

Competition, Traffic, Costs and Time Shortage –

Owing to growing population, competition is also increasing.

Hence, the buyer is getting inquisitive for extra transparent information.

Websites provide that in a far better way as in comparison to the common medium – phone calls and meetings, used for marketing.

Additionally, people are using the internet for placing orders, instead of calling suppliers for buying products and services.

The increasing road traffic is forcing buyers to compare products on the web, rather than meeting suppliers and agencies through business lunches.

These above are some of the factors for increasing popularity of the Website Industry in India.

Fourth Obstacle for Fast Growth Of The Web Industry In India :

Expensive Cost of Data –

Network tariffs here are quite expensive still – As inflated as roughly double the rates even if compared to Indonesia.

The prices of 4G service in Brazil are roughly one third of those in India.

Bandwidth is scarce – the telecom companies have no other choice but to cough up huge sums of money for airwaves to the government.

Consequently, the cost of data goes up.

A classic specimen for why Politics Affects Internet badly.

Having said that, one notices a substantial fall in prices of bandwidth and broadband since the beginning of 2018.

Fifth Advantage India Carries In The Zone Of The WWW :

Startups –

The cyberspace startups having suddenly emerged in the last 5 years in India have opened many eyes.

The extraordinary success of privately owned groups, selling retail items, cab services, food delivery, movie tickets and travel bookings have surprised many.

Such developments are a beneficial for the Website Industry in India, as additional people get used to browsing.

Fifth Drawback For The Information Technology Territory In India :

Low Internet Speed –

We rank at the 90th position globally, in terms of net-connection speed.

Even behind countries like Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Costa Rica, Bhutan and Pakistan.

Reasons could be many –

  • Most users are satisfied with measly speeds as their usage is very limited.

  • High-speed connections are expensive and the telecom companies cannot afford setting up such infrastructure for just a few customers.

  • Very few consumers have fixed lines, as most use Wi-Fi modems, mobile phones or USB Dongles – which give a slower speed than broadband.

  • The cables used in fixed lines contain substandard copper as the ISP’s have no other choice but to save cost after paying heavy spectrum fee to the authorities.

  • The administration has blocked the data service through cable TV in the greed for more revenues as a share from the ISP’s – Another important instance how Politics Affects Internet here.

It seems though, some reforms have been undertaken on this issue, recently and proven effective for sure.

Endless sums of finances are needed for welfare spending. That produces a further economic slowdown. Which in turn again requires more revenue to feed additional poor created due to the cycle.

Sixth Benefit Available To The Indian World Wide Web Zone :

Young Population –

We are a nation with a young citizenry, as 65% of us are below the 35-year mark.

This opens up opportunities for web development, as the young generation is cognizant of the strength of online marketing.

A reason for optimism on the betterment of the Website Industry in India.

Sixth Barrier For Indian IT Companies :

Politicians and Bureaucratic Bodies like TRAI etc. –

This factor is a major illustration of : Why Politics Affects Internet in our economy.

The continuous interference of bureaucracy and authorities in the corporate world has been major drawback, since independence.

TRAI is one of the bodies that keeps coming up with fancy directives thrown at the ISP operators.

An organization, funded by the levies paid by the conglomerates, is giving orders to the same business houses.

Despite the fact that the PSU’s are founded by the taxes paid by the industrialists, the private sector is not in a position to order the government to disinvest.

Corruption or inefficiency are not the only two consequences of PSU’s !

In addition, PSU’s spoil the local commercial atmosphere, as they consume and waste natural resources and capital.

This prevents tariff reduction on one hand and hampers quick growth of the private sector on the other hand by creating a shortage of natural resources.

On top of that, to satisfy their ego, all governments keep announcing genius out-of-the-box ideas for promotion of the IT industry.

The data service providers do not need new initiatives, programs and support plans from the administration.

In real, what they want is discontinuation of restrictions in commerce.

That is the only way for proper economic progress.

Relentless involvement of authorities through partnering with governments of other nations and MNC’s has created a havoc on the IT sector.

Again Politics Affects Internet in our country.

In the process of bringing out support schemes, all administrations end up increasing own size or expanding “PSU-like” bodies which are the two most serious reasons why we are still a deficient nation.

Seventh Positive Element For Website Development Companies In The Nation :

Abundance of Skilled Manpower –

We produce a large number of software engineers and IT related work-force every year.

Regardless of the fact that the real skilled ones migrate to USA – which is fair and that’s how it should be.

Their companies come here and make profits and we go there for jobs to make a living.

Fair deal.

Still the ones who stay back, are extremely talented – which is an encouraging sign for the probable expansion of the Website Industry in India.

Having said that unfortunately some local IT companies, end up providing average service as the focus is on volumes rather than quality.

However, the situation is quite hopeful from a larger perspective as one can find a considerably good standard web developer, locally, after some exploring.

Of course, such consultants won’t build a website within a Rs. 10000 budget for you, but then websites are investments and provide results accordingly.

Seventh Negative Factor For The Search Engine Optimization Professionals In India :

Dealing Within Own Circle Attitude –

This is one of the shortcomings in the Indian Market.

Some people prefer working for clients within the circle they themselves are a part-of.

Reason being, that since many professionals are non-serious, they do not want to work for new or untapped customers.

Video below – Websites help companies meet unknown customers and grow faster vis a vis promotion by networking within own business circle, used in traditional marketing :

They find it easy to manipulate clients, sweet talk with friends and relatives, as it is easy to do so over a cup of coffee or after a few drinks.

An unknown buyer would judge a supplier, based on his merit.

That scrutiny is something that local businesspersons avoid, often.

A website exposes a company to the entire world and chances of procurement of fresh untapped buyers are bright.

And that for some professionals is a disadvantageous situation instead of an opportunity.

Performance, production, quality or capability is not the basis how things work here.

The better you are in making the people within your business and personal circle believe, that you are concerned about them, the more you succeed.

Having said that, there are some valid reasons for businesses avoiding dealing with new customers :

1. Difficulties in Payment Recovery – The problems in recovering payments from buyers and clients is another reason why people find websites as useless in India.

Entrepreneurs are not too keen to find new customers as claiming money for goods and services supplied to known buyers is easier as compared to new clients procured through online marketing.

The legal system takes years and years in cases of cases filed for cheque bouncing.

A classic example of how Politics Affects Internet industry in the country.

2. Lack of Capital – Due to heavy delays in payment recoveries, most businesses are on the backfoot all the time.

One has no other choice but to pay defensive by going slow on expansion by exploring new avenues for sale.

On top of that, due to reckless and relentless spending by the government, the fiscal deficit is always high, resulting in exorbitant borrowing rates.

Hence, one needs to think ten times before considering the option of a bank overdraft or a business loan.

Then, the big companies are in general always working at full capacity and the room for further expansion is always a second priority.

Finally, the small time entrepreneur is already so worked up, 24X7, due to a difficult business environment, that he cannot even imagine entering an untapped market or contacting unknown clients and creating a further headache for himself.

Owing to heavy involvement of PSU work culture, bureaucracy and regulations on corporate activities – Networking, contact building and pull has spread in the private sector too.

Yes, it’s true – Politics Affects Internet in our nation.

The private sector is efficient because there is too much at stake for the owner. One invests own money and sweat and blood in his venture.

He is the one who works night and day under tense conditions.

Unlike a bureaucrat, who plays around with the taxpayers hard earned income and maximum possible success is not a necessity for him.

Because there is no self-interest involved.

He gets rewarded by the administration even if performing at a slightly above average level.

To conclude : One may say that the intent of all governments since 1991 has been good – broadly speaking.

But none apart from the Vajpayee Cabinet, aggressively touched upon the indispensable issue of privatization !

If implemented, the ultimate is possible, which will enable real growth of commercial activities in our nation.

Due to the usual Indian government’s interference and in pressuring tactics on large corporates to somehow try and reduce the gap between conglomerates and middle level enterprises by expanding PSU’s, is laughable.

On the contrary, that kind of economics, further harms the entire system, instead of healing the financial health of the small businesses inside the country.

Optimizing websites for top class visitor-experience and the best possible position on Google and Bing.

Creating Marketable Content

There are many sites available today that can help in producing online content for marketing websites or lead generation purposes.

Let us discuss only four such platforms for promotion of websites, out of the few I have tried so far – SlideShare, Animaker, Canva and Google Slide Presentations.

creating marketable content

Designing Marketable Content for Websites

Most domains mentioned above have their own strengths and limitations when it comes to creating marketable content for acquiring customers.

However, the situation might change if one starts comparing the paid versions, barring Google Slide Presentations, which delivers the full version completely free.

producing online content

Developing Online Content for Website Promotion

Animated videos, different types of infographics and multimedia animations assist in lead generation and acquiring customers.
Discussing the topic below only based on the free versions, to simplify comparison :

Using SlideShare for Promoting Marketable Content

  • Purpose : This website helps in purely promoting your presentations as compared to the other softwares under discussion here, which assist in both – Producing Online Content for web marketing as well as for designing advertising material.

However as you may add a YouTube Video URL, inside slides here, one can also say that this site is helping in part production of documents too.

The effect of promotion here is quite substantial and acquiring customers or lead generation is possible.

  • Uploads – One needs to create some document first, in the form of either a PDF, or any of the Microsoft PowerPoint formats or else a simple text file and then upload on the platform.

However, you are free to add a URL of any YouTube Video inside the slides, after uploading.

The same is watchable and easy to view within the presentation.

A fantastic feature, as this adds a punch to the deck. One may add more than one URL by the way.

  • Quality – The picture resolution sharpness is top grade.

  • Animation – The biggest limitation here.

As many PPT files are animated, one feels disappointed at SlideShare flattening out the moving objects, once uploaded.

Dynamic multimedia properties are not a necessity, but only because the site rejects a fantastic characteristic from a PPS, one is left wanting for more.

  • Hyperlinks – Its software automatically removes Hyperlinks in the first 3 pages of the uploaded Microsoft PPS or Adobe PDF.

Links from the fourth slide onwards work normally.

Not such a big issue.

  • Background Audio – SlideShare does not allow music in presentations on its site.

The relevant sound disappears after the document appears here.

However, speakers recorded voice, such as explainer notes, are allowed and audible after uploading.

This is the only site with this facility, out of all four, here, making it unique in that sense.

And the option to re-upload an updated version of the PPS, which overwrites the previous version, is another useful feature.

slideshare link sharing

Embedding and Sharing SlideShare Links

  • Integration with Social Media – This website has a direct connection with LinkedIn, being its subsidiary.

That is the main reason for extra exposure in the case of SlideShare Decks.

As most others, it provides option to share on few other social media networks as well.

  • Embedding – The site extends a provision in terms of embedding, which is helpful.

A second embed code, especially for WordPress websites is another advantage.

  • Downloads – It is possible to downlink the presentation only in the same file type, the user has uploaded originally.

Nevertheless, this limitation is natural, as this application is not supposed to be used for creating marketable content for websites, but instead utilized as a sales promotion tool by companies.

  • Size – The output file is limited up to 300 MB, which more than suffices because the maximum allowable size for Microsoft PowerPoint is 100 MB and PDF of more than 300 MB must be rare.

Another positive aspect, as it generates ample room for the kind of users needing to upload a heavy document.

  • Length of Deck – One may have as many slides inside a single deck in this website.

  • In-house Visibility – One of the positive factors to consider using this platform is that it provides an enormous exposure in front of business circles, as it has a large number of subscribers.

That is the best attribute of this website.

  • Traffic from Search Engines – The portal presents a wide scope in organic exposure on the internet for your document, provided it is high quality and embedded in your website.

Canva for Producing Online Content for Marketing

  • Purpose : You can design not just one but various types of sales promotion and multimedia advertising material on this website.

Out of all the four top tools for marketing (under discussion here), this medium is special in the sense that it assists both – Web Designers as well as Printing Industry Professionals and Companies.

website designing on canva

Canva Web Page Layouts and Backgrounds

Businesses and professionals commonly create Posters, Banners, Infographics, Presentations, Social Media Graphics, Brochures etc.

One may even use this website for personal use, as it has a beautiful variety of Book Cover, Photo Collage and other templates.

  • Uploads – This is another strong characteristic of Canva.

Even the SVG format is importable, which is the unique trait of this website.

This is the only platform with this facility, here.

What’s more, you are also free to insert EPS files, adding further strength to this site.

For regular images, JPEG’s are importable here.

Just like SlideShare, one can embed one or more YouTube URL’s here as well.

The same video is viewable if one switches to the “presentation mode” in the PDF.

Finally, importing images directly from one’s Facebook Account, is also permitted on this website.

  • Quality – The resolution is of a top class quality, but surprisingly, sometimes the dimensions of the document change after publishing.

It’s software might on some occasions (not always), crop the finished template from the sides, leaving you to wonder why it happened.

This is the weakest point of this website.

  • Animation – The portal does not render any animated features.

Having said that, the facilities and options for graphic and website designing are so elaborate, that one is able to produce visually attractive PDF’s, presentations and images.

One has the choice of adding photos, shapes, icons, illustrations, word art in different categories available in-house.

A variety of layouts, backgrounds and fonts needed for producing online content is accessible too within the domain.

  • Hyperlinks – You are allowed to create as many hyperlinks within the artwork or document, as required.

  • Background Audio – Not available on the website, due to obvious reasons.

  • Integration with Social Media – Canva does not possess any direct connection with any such network.

However, one can always manually promote the link, by sharing on various networks, which is a common feature in most websites.

  • Embedding – Full marks here.

Even this software presents a second embed code, especially for WordPress websites.

  • Downloads – One finds three options for downloading – PDF, PNG and JPEG.

  • Size – The output is limited to 50 MB, which is sufficient in most cases.

  • Length of PDF – Only up to a maximum number of 15 pages are allowable in a single presentation, on this website.

Maybe a little improvement required here from Canva.

  • In-house Visibility – It would be premature to expect any significant traffic towards your artwork here, due to this website being relatively new.

This medium is more suited for either creating marketable content for websites, or else for designing and multimedia advertising instead of being utilized as a business promotion tool.

  • Traffic from Search Engines – This software does not render any notable organic visibility to your files, if embedded in your website or article posts.

This is not a major shortfall, as the platform helps in producing online content for marketing in various forms – advertising material, documents for business promotion and much more.

The designing capabilities on Canva are very powerful.

Animaker for Creating Marketable Content For Websites

  • Purpose : One can produce 2D animated cartoon as well as infographic explainer films on this website.

One has the option of adding photos, shapes, web icons, backgrounds, illustrations and much more accessible within the portal.

This is a wonderful component of this website.

making animaker videos

Building Animated Videos on Animaker

A wide variety of backgrounds, themes and different types of fonts is available too.

  • Uploads – One can import PNG and JPEG pictures and MP3 sound files within one’s library and workspace on this website.

  • Quality – Clarity and sharpness of the produced file is of a high standard and easily shareable.

The resolution is sharp, easy to view and strikingly awesome.

  • Animation – This is a specialized platform for developing dynamic cartoon visuals and producing online content for digital advertising.

It’s user-friendly and makes it easy for creating marketable content and develop short 2D animated movies and presentations for multimedia advertisements.

Another great component one finds on Animaker is the choice to shape-out dynamic infographics with appealing designs.

The “screen effects” in particular are brilliant.

The “enter” and “end” effects used for animating objects or text, present many types of interesting options, which render an entertaining experience to explainer videos.

  • Hyperlinks – For obvious reasons, this provision is not present on this website.

  • Background Audio – Another exceptional component here, since out of all the four tools, this is the only one that presents this facility.

Some of the in-house voice tracks are quite pleasant sounding.

Importing one’s own MP3 sound-byte is permitted here.

  • Integration with Social Media – Animaker does not directly integrated with any such network but the attractiveness of the output can help in acquiring customers.

This website assists you in traffic generation indirectly, as you may export the movie to both YouTube and Facebook.

And of course, link sharing on the internet always helps.

  • Embedding – Unfortunately, this amenity is not available on this website.

  • Downloads – There is no such provision for downloading the movie directly from Animaker.

This website is very different from others in this aspect.

After exporting to YouTube, one can either download or embed the shareable video, from there.

Facebook on the other hand displays only an embed code in such a case.

  • Size – One may upload photos up to a maximum of 5 MB in all, inside one’s picture library inside the website.

An additional 5 MB can be utilized for importing MP3 sound files too.

It seems there is no maximum limit for the output, but the video is relatively light, considering the resolution quality of the animations.

Most likely the produced two minute film will be less than 15 MB, including the audio.

Hence another plus in Animaker’s favor.

  • Length of Video – One can make different types of short movies, up to 2 minutes long, here.

  • In-house Visibility – One might not witness any considerable inflow of visitors here from within here.

This website is one of the top tools for marketing as well as for producing online content in the form of animated infographic presentations or designing movies.

Reason being – The portal dispenses such beautiful whiteboard animations that it is too good to be true.

  • Traffic from Search Engines – Since the embedding code is not accessible, this medium does not render any significant traffic to your movie.

However there is some chance of gaining organic exposure either through an inward link from YouTube or else after uploading the video on own website or blog.

Animaker undoubtedly assists building exclusive films and animations.

Google Slide Presentations for Producing Online Content

  • Purpose : One can conveniently furnish top class multimedia material, PDF documents and SVG files on this website.

The in-house availability of diverse tools like – tables, designer templates, themes, word-art, backgrounds and assorted charts makes this portal the most effectual out of all four under discussion.

This prime website assists in designing elegant looking slides as well as promoting and creating marketable content for websites.

The platform has some special features like Autosave, which takes care of easy recovery from Google Docs.

Another benefit it has is that one also gives the option to make the documents or slides visible only to selected viewers, if required.

  • Uploads – This website is quite extraordinary on this front too.

On one hand, you are free to add a URL of one or more videos from YouTube or from your own Google Drive.

On the other hand, you may import presentations of almost any kind, including the animated ones.

You can insert photos in almost all sorts of formats from your hard drive or else through any URL too.

  • Quality – Just like Canva, the visual precision of the images are remarkable here too.

  • Animation – Google Slides is truly very easy to use for launching interactive motion designs too.

This website has a trouble-free interface allowing effortless assemblage, themes and motion features.

The moving objects work smoothly and the “zoom in” and “spin” effects in particular, are magnificent.

  • Hyperlinks – As one has the additional choice to save as SVG, Microsoft PPTX and Adobe PDF files, the links work perfectly after publishing the slide.

  • Background Audio – The only prominent handicap in this website.

It is not possible to add any music or audible speaker notes in a Google Slides Presentation.

One can add relevant text notes though.

Nevertheless, as the remaining amenities are first class, one does not mind this shortcoming.

There are roundabout ways like adding audio on easily clickable links here, but personally, I feel they are avoidable.

  • Integration with Social Media – This website does not hold any direct connection with any such network.

However, since it is a part of Google Docs, which is a vastly popular portal, it more than neutralizes the shortfall.

The manual link sharing possibilities here are adequate to assist in lead generation and acquiring customers.

  • Embedding – The website dispenses an embed code also which works on almost all kinds of software’s including WordPress.

  • Downloads – One can save the final published file in several types of versions – PPTX, Plain Text, PDF, ODP, JPEG, PNG and SVG too.

google slide presentations

A Large Variety of File Saving Formats inside Google Slides

A remarkable design element here as it gives so much flexibility in many areas – be it producing online content for marketing, motion designing, business promotion or advertising.

Unlike Animaker, this site does not allow downloading in MP4 directly, but one can easily make a video after opening the PPTX and exporting the same in MP4.

Very few portals are permitting conversion within different file types within their own sites.

So one may derive that you can convert your presentation into either SVG, PNG, JPG, PDF, ODP or PPTX after importing any of the other formats this platform has to offer.

A very robust factor indeed.

  • Size – The output is limited up to 100 MB, which is more than enough for most users.
  • Length of the PPTX, ODP or PDF – One can have as many slides in a particular deck inside this website.
  • In-house Visibility – Unlike the other three, this tool does not present a separate interface as such to help the audience view your published designs.

But it does not make any difference as one publishes the finalized file to Google Docs and the same is visible there.

Do not forget to click the “visible to public” box to enable open visibility, in such a case.

As a matter of fact this is one of the top advantages this website carries, as Google Docs is an immensely visited platform.

  • Traffic from Search Engines – Like SlideShare, even this portal can help in generating a fair bit of organic visibility.

That is subject to the condition that the slide is engaging and contains informative and sensible content for the audience.

And of course animations, if included, can be the icing on the cake.

Undoubtedly, a great tool for creating marketable content, business promotion, making motion slides and presentations.

making top slides for websites

Making Slide Presentations

Content marketing experts in South Delhi, India. Helping clients in growing sales and revenues through websites.
To conclude, all these four portals have their Pros and Cons but all are significantly easy to to use for producing online content for website promotion and digital marketing.

And not to forget, that the paid versions are far more potent, barring Google Slides which provides the full version totally free.

Market Your Web Content

As the industry is changing fast, just On-page or Off-page search engine optimization of websites isn’t enough to generate leads.

Content Marketing has now become a major avenue to promote websites.

The crawlers are asking for more and more fresh articles, updated pages, images, videos, slides and presentations, as it seems they have an insatiable appetite.

So the big question arises – How to or Where to Market Your Web Content for improving backlinks and bettering chances of reaching the first page position on SERP’s?

Compare to Role Models and Connect with Influencers

Competition is so high that gone are the days when Website SEO Professionals used to simply optimise your web pages to enable inflow of traffic to your site.
One needs to look to audience preferences and make wise investments during paid advertising campaigns.

Content Marketing for Websites

There are several factors which help in carrying out an effective online promotion exercise. Some of those as follows –

  • Submit your blogs and articles, web pages, videos, slides and images to Bing and Google Webmaster Console as well as social networks,
  • Use paid marketing mediums like Adwords, Facebook Advertising and LinkedIn Sponsored Ads for instant results.
  • Try to maintain transparency and build a brand identity on the internet by enabling consistency in your color themes, logo, design and format style,
  • Write engaging titles and headlines while publishing blogs and creating pages,
  • Try making as much improvement as possible in your blogs and pages and then repost the same on social media.
  • Reach out to online PR News Journalists, by assisting them in completing their articles, to gain trust and backlinks from their sites.

Now, which is the right content marketing medium or what is the correct online promotion approach for small-size manufacturers, agents, vendors or companies ?
This dilemma originates from the fact that there are so many avenues and powerful sources to advertise your website, articles, videos, slideshow presentations or images.
How much time and effort should one dedicate and to which method ?

Promoting Web Pages and Blogs for a Content Marketing Campaign

Should one concentrate more on Social Media Networks of Google Plus, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Twitter and similar ?
Or is it better to focus more on other forms of Off-page optimization like – Submitting permalinks on Bing and Google Webmaster Console, guest article posting, answering questions on Quora, participating in Google Blogs, News Media etc. for content marketing ?

Is it better to dedicate more time for videos as compared to images, whiteboard animations and design in ascending or descending order, to attract customers ?

Should one increase emphasis on websites like SlideShare, Canva, Google Photos, Giphy, Facebook Carousels etc. for producing shareable presentations and animation promos ?

Does it require a change in order, to create the right balance in designed content and SEO ?

Types of Customers

There are 4 kinds of prospective buyers :

  • The ones you approach on your own,
  • That call you through references,
  • Who explore the internet on desktops and
  • Finally, the ones which search supplier websites on smartphones.

Is it wise to miss out reaching the ones who fall under the last two categories above ? Obviously not.

One cannot discuss all of the methods of content marketing but let us make the focus of this discussion on the leading social media networking websites :

Market Your Web Content On Twitter

1. Twitter – Whenever I log into this portal, it reminds me of an article that perfectly summarizes it as a high-volume, low-value network.

One of the features this network possesses is that you can post as much as you feel like provided you do that at a ten-minute interval, more or less.

No one minds an aggressive mode of content marketing here, it seems.

Entering this portal is like going to a never-ending full night party. Lots of activity, people and buzz. Nevertheless, all is over after the party.

Likewise, all the time and effort in digital advertising seems waste after you log-off.

Though, you can learn a lot on Twitter, as the topic range and quantity is more than enough to gather awareness on many subjects.

The internal sharing or retweeting pattern is quite common here.

A popular platform for promotion of e-commerce websites.

This is the best feature of this portal.

People love Twitter for special deals during retail sales, e-commerce website promotion and discount coupons during holiday shopping season.

Twitter Business for Retail Sales Promotion

Moreover, you expose yourself to a large diverse crowd from all sorts of fields one can imagine – professional, non-official and so on.

Even a 1% possibility of conversion might translate into more than what you can find elsewhere.

In addition, the instantaneousness nature of this network, sometimes gets visitors to reach your web page within a few minutes of your postings.

One cannot consider it as a purely business network but then it all depends upon the type of members you follow.

However, this is a helpful digital avenue to market your web content, for quick traffic, even though short lasting.

LinkedIn Company Page For Acquiring Niche Clients

2. LinkedIn – Somewhat opposite to Twitter. In contrast to other leading websites, gets very few but classy-formal audience, broadly speaking.

A difficult site if you are looking for fast results.

The members on LinkedIn are already aware of everything and are unwilling in taking chances with any new supplier or service provider.

In my opinion – A high-value, low-volume social network.

You cannot afford to post too much on LinkedIn. Or else be prepared to hear some sarcastic comment or the other from someone.

Probably the second best website for content marketing as long as one does not promote something more than once a day.

Posting on your LinkedIn Company Page is another matter.

Internal sharing is not practiced here normally.

It is very easy to use this site as your preferred social media business network.

Just like the other leading portals under discussion, even this website can be used for paid advertising provided one spends wisely.

This social networking medium offers options for “Sponsored Updates” which appear in the main section and “Text Advertisements” viewable in the right sidebar.

Like others, even LinkedIn used for Paid-ads

The quality of the audience you find here is very valuable and even a slight visibility might help in closing a deal in the future.

The impact of promotion on LinkedIn can last for a long-term, if you post both on the main feed as well as on your in-house Company Page.

Cannot say if you can learn a lot here, but then who cares ?

At least you do not end up spending hours on this website, which is a plus in its favor.

Therefore, logging into this portal is like attending the Christie’s Art Auction, where you find the elite, but end up talking to a very few.

Nevertheless, some users here might immediately visit your website or your LinkedIn Company Page after you promote something on the main feed.

One rare characteristic it has is that despite being a business-like site it has the potential to enable person-to-person bonding.

Sometimes, communication may originate here, after sharing views on politics and economics.

Another advantage LinkedIn offers is that you expose more about yourself to future prospective clients instead of being visible more to stray viewers.

Undoubtedly, LinkedIn is a powerful avenue to market your web content for long-term benefits, specially.

Using Pinterest Business Account For Advertising Your Knowledge

3. Pinterest – A bit different from most of the websites under discussion here.

A large-volume, medium-value platform probably.

The nature of this website is such that in most cases, any serious consultant will end up using it as a purely business network, by default.

In terms of learning, maybe the best social media resource. Some of the infographics here are really educative and shareable.

Many bloggers promote articles on Pinterest and achieve high traffic.

On the other hand, it would be unrealistic to expect too much regarding maturing any deal, because you normally do not communicate much here.

Ironically, it seems you end up showing yourself to the audience mainly from your own industry instead of exposing yourself to potential customers.

You end up confined mainly within your own circle of professionals related to your specialty, despite this gateway having a diverse variety of subscribers.

Nevertheless, since this resource is like a visual search engine, it gives you visibility on Google, Bing, MSN etc.

Therefore, even if you are half-opaque to clients within this website, you are at least to some extent visible on search.

And that’s a rare characteristic of this website.

So entering this platform is like going to a Google Webmaster Tutorial Class.

Maybe because there is so much to view, understand and show here.

The number one portal for internal sharing.

A nice avenue for content marketing for getting noticed and indexed by the crawlers.

Another useful feature of this network is that you can post enough data, due to the folder system – Boards.

One does not need to hesitate in doing that here as one ends up distributing posts in topic specific folders.

Being another high-volume site, the character of this portal is such that it needs little patience, unlike the Twitter platform, which enables amazingly fast scanning of posts.

However, the effect of posting here is reasonably long-term, as many users scan your shared infographics, up to a considerable depth.

Share and promote your blogs on Pinterest

It’s anyone’s guess if and when the audience will view your website; but most likely they might not do that on a priority basis.

Be prepared to work-it-out here as it consumes a bit more effort than other platforms, due to its large capacity, but then then it’s worth it.

Women are the driving force behind this portal, due to it being visual and image centric.

The top place to market your web content including pictures, infographics, articles and sliders if advertising your knowledge base.

Using YouTube As A Secondary Search Engine For Promoting Your Brand

4. YouTube – Another unique portal where the emphasis is on mainly one form of format – Videos.

Much like Pinterest with a focus on primarily only one form of media – Infographics.

Of course, there is lot more you can do inside both websites. Audio and Movie animations etc.

A medium-value-volume resource, one can say.

Despite being such a large website, surprisingly the YouTube network is not as high-quantity as Twitter or Pinterest.

Maybe because despite having so many viewers, the number of actual contributors is far lower.

The percentage of active participants inside Pinterest or Twitter is very large, which gives a feeling as if both contain more or less the same volume of content as YouTube does.
But this video search engine is far bigger.

As far as publishing movies is concerned, it is unlimited.

A beneficial portal for paid advertising and promoting video animations in websites, if you focus on answering why your product or service would matter to your audience.

YouTube – A beneficial resource for Advertising

As far as internal sharing is concerned – Something which is not commonly practiced here.

You need to understand what your value proposition is, when you advertise on this website.

Maybe the second best social media avenue for learning, as some of those films are very informative.

One could argue that one can learn as much on the YouTube as on Pinterest, but for that one will end up devoting maybe four or five times more hours here.

You gain a reasonable level of exposure if you upload any self-created and top quality video as the number of followers here is massive.

Overall the best website for content marketing for gaining popularity both within and outside this network.

However, as one does not communicate much on YouTube, leads here do not usually materialize into business very soon.

LinkedIn, Facebook, Google Plus and Twitter provide a feed based interface, which gives you a better chance to interact with your followers.

The YouTube Channel is an extremely important website as its size is humongous.

You gain visibility in front of all types of visitors here – Business, non-professional or any category.

So going to YouTube is like enrolling yourself as a life-long member of the largest multi-cultural club in the world.

The effect of advertising here is long lasting as the videos become prominent for an extended period of time, helping in higher rankings.

The built-in, separate sections for published films, playlists, channels etc. is a very useful feature.

One cannot call YouTube as a business site because often it is tempting to watch your favorite movie, music film or news here.

Another plus point in YouTube’s favor is that this platform is an audio-visual search engine.

It has an edge over Pinterest, on this front, because on one hand, it gives you fantastic visibility on the SERP’s and side by side, it exposes you to a huge variety of viewers in-house.

Although, there is little chance that a viewer will reach your website after watching your video.

Again, be prepared to dedicate enough time on YouTube. This portal requires the maximum patience.

Some informative movies are long, but then it is surely worth the while.

Probably the right network to market your web content, especially for achieving extensive prominence on the internet.

Facebook Business Page For Capturing The Most Diverse Audience

5. Facebook – What can one say ? Cannot afford to down another four pages on the SERP’s by praising it ! Lol.

Anyway. Jokes apart. This is the most popular digital platform in the world.

I would be lying if I claim that I use Facebook only for business.

If there is any network, which is incompatible for just one type of activity then this is the one.

It has the most diverse and versatile environment one can find on any website.

No matter what, one will end up chatting with friends, publishing on the public feed, viewing uploads by friends even if one has a Facebook Business Page.

A lot many familiar faces around with whom one interacts and often relatives too.

Having said that – It would be better to target a highly specific audience only, while advertising here.

Hard to say whether to put this tool in the high or medium-volume bracket because one line of thought is that it is not decent to publish too much on the news feed as one’s followers get irritated.

On the other hand, one can post in reasonably sufficient amounts on his/her Facebook Business Page, although not as much as on Twitter or Pinterest.

Therefore, logging into this website is as if going to your brother’s wedding.

You can let it loose after a couple of drinks in the bar area but then straighten up and act appropriately when back in front of relatives.

Cannot call Facebook as an educational resource.

It is more of a digital communication tool and the best one at that.

Create and post short videos to extract the best possible results in marketing campaigns, here.

Sharing Trend – More robust in the News Feed as compared to the Business Pages.

This gateway makes it difficult to confine oneself to topics related only to own field of work. Although exceptions always exist.

However, it is possible to generate business through Facebook Content Marketing mediums. Reason being, this website has a bit of everything.

Promotion through Facebook Business Page

It has the flexibility of adding large or small-quantity of postings.

But in case of marketing, it is recommended to pay for advertising your best content only.

Facebook also has the kind of subscribers that neither falls in the high or low-value category.

This is an immensely balanced resource, which enables a fair chance to all members, to participate within a large audience, who seem to have an easy going attitude.

A useful avenue for content marketing for websites, as it acts as a sort of reminder to people who already know about your company.

The Facebook portal is also the most informal one out of all the major platforms, enabling an interesting, wide-range and exciting user-experience.

Therefore, conversion here is quite possible due to the extra benefits one derives in terms of a level of bonding within its members.

That is why it is advisable to focus on the leads you already have in-house.

It’s possible for users to instantly visit your website or the in-house Company Page, after you typing something here.

Despite one ending up exposing himself in a limited way to the business-oriented circle, lead generation is still possible.

The effect of promotion here is mid-term, as on one hand you can have very few business related advertising on the main feed but ample on the in-house Company Page.

Finally, the interface and atmosphere of this website is such, where one can spend any amount of time.

A very effective tool to market your web content if looking for mass online visibility.

Use Emojis to elevate your posts, here.

Posting On Google+ For Boosting Organic Results Of Your Website

6. Google Plus – The most useful portal. Actually the least popular but still the most crucial.

One can call it a low-volume, medium-value network for content marketing purposes.

Still the most important because it seems to be linked indirectly to the Google Crawler.

One big benefit it provides is that it creates some sort of an indirect organic listing visibility (not direct) for websites.

No matter what – the most valuable prospect is always the one that one can gain through organic result pages.

Normally, clicks through social media are not as solid as the ones generated through natural listings on the SERP’s.

One can easily use this site as a purely business platform if only concentrating on the Brand Account.

Not the ideal website in terms of learning though, as the volumes are small.

I don’t know why. Maybe because some members have not been able to understand how to extract the most out of it.

Some of the common mistakes by marketers on this website are :

  • Neglecting uploading photos or not utilizing eye-catching pictures,
  • Failing to add or correct the official hours in the local listing,
  • Creating multiple location pages with the same business or occupational description or
  • Forgetting to rectify an inaccurately placed Google Pin.

Common Mistakes made by Business Marketers at Google+ Local

All said, one of the best tools for search engine oriented content marketing and Local SEO.

Slide below : How to do Website SEO – Visible on Mobile Devices Only :

It would be unrealistic to expect too much here vis a vis procuring a customer.

This network is simply for enhancing the flow of online visitors towards your website and market your web content.

This portal has a wide range of users, but one gains exposure within professionals only if running a Brand Account.

So entering Google Plus is like participating in a trade fair exhibition, without any exhibit, where you simply gain substantial traffic through the exhibition directory.

This is a unique characteristic of this site – very limited exposure in-house but considerable visibility on search engines !

Another valuable feature this platform has, is that one can promote unlimited data without hesitation – again like Pinterest giving an opportunity to create folders.

But if one touches upon issue of sharing-patterns, then i would say it is very limited here.

Google Plus is the only network that has four huge websites within itself – Brand Account, Maps, Photos and My Business !

Rest of the sites have only one or two worthwhile branches within themselves.

A combination of all five makes Google Plus the strongest mode of Off-page SEO, even if it might be the weakest in the standalone format.

This site is not any crawler, however.

One does not end up spending too much time on Google Plus, which for many, might be a positive.

The results of publishing here are somewhat long lasting, as the folders help one segregate his content, in a topical manner, making it user-friendly.

There is only a very slight chance of the subscribers visiting your website through Google Plus.

The right avenue to market your web content, if looking for visibility within natural listings.

One might derive that every portal has its pros and cons when it comes to extracting results from Content Marketing on them.

The amount of effort involved, depends upon :

  • Your needs and preferences,

  • Goals,
  • Time and money at disposal for optimizing your website,
  • Choice between PPC vs free-advertising,
  • Priority towards blog writing,
  • Emphasis on producing backlinks through On or Off-page SEO or
  • Social media and video marketing etc.

Feel free to view our slide presentation below, visible on mobile devices only : How to Gain Online Visibility –

    Balance In Content And SEO

I own a medium size business and need a new website for network expansion.

I thought let’s first get some idea about web development and ascertain its prices first.
I approached Ms. A, who is an organic web promotion specialist.

What is Search Engine Optimisation – I asked ?

    She answered :

    • Designing well-formatted layouts,
    • Mobile phone responsiveness,
    • Easy navigation,
    • Useful links etc.

are part of On-page website optimization, but pointless if the content inside your web pages is not good enough or unattractive.

    She added :

The best way to gather backlinks from authoritative sources and high-value websites is by :

    1. Producing original and relevant information,
    2. Typing unique / informative sentences and paragraphs,
    3. Genuine and meaningful blogs,
    4. Creating interesting and informative pictures and videos,
    5. Writing clearly readable text,
    6. Enabling easily clickable links,
    7. Making easy-to-find menus and
    8. Website SEM / Social Media Marketing.

And your website is pointless without natural inward links.

Search Engine Optimisation is your best salesman and helps you attract only your target customer by filtering out the non-required user – She replied.

balance in content and seo for websites

Parity Between Content and On-Page Optimization in Websites

Websites Need A Balance In Content and SEO Requirements

Then I approached Ms. B, who is another marketing agent promoting websites.

She said that original, topical and fresh content is the most important factor to improve user-experience, but one cannot relate to it with a king because then it sounds as if it is everything.

There has to be a balance in content and SEO exercises in websites, she said.

What is the point of having just genuine text, related page titles / headlines and relevant images unless your site is prominent online, smartphone-friendly and designed properly ? – She questioned.

A website needs a combination of both –

    Quality Content Creation

    Search Engine Optimization

and for that one needs to create a parity, as sometimes in the process of completing the former, one ends up compromising the latter, due to lack of resources and time – She said.
I say that because when one talks about creating content for websites then generally it is implied that one is focusing on just producing blogs, videos or pictures, while keeping website optimisation as the second priority – She added.
All i’m trying to say is that one needs to remember that the spiders need websites to also comply with some particular technical requirements pertaining to site optimization alongside creating content – She concluded.
Now, whose advice should I accept ? How does one evaluate up to what extent one should focus on while promoting a website ?

Which are the main avoidable mistakes in SEO ?
Is there anyone who could spell out the topmost necessary factors for site optimization ?

How much time and money should one allocate and spend on which mode or facet, while creating or optimizing visitor-friendly websites ?

    Should it be like ?

    • 35% fresh content,
    • 15% On-page website optimisation,
    • 10% mobile responsiveness,
    • 10% blogs,
    • 10% Off-page SEO,
    • 5% simple browsing functionality,
    • 5% attractive design,
    • 5% useful links and
    • 5% PPC on social media networks

Or should it be like ?

    • 40% original content,
    • 15% On-page Optimisation,
    • 10% mobile phone compatibility,
    • 10% blog posting,
    • 5% Off-page website optimization,
    • 5% easy navigation,
    • 5% design,
    • 5% valuable links and
    • 5% on PPC for social media presence

How to judge, which one out of the two above is the perfect combination ? Good websites require a balance in content and SEO technicalities, it seems.

Of course some modifications might be needed for each site, as every case is unique.

A shopping portal might wish to disburse 15% of the resources on PPC

    vis a vis

An established college, which may not require to spend anything on the same and still have at least some visibility if not too high.

So yes, a balance in content and SEO procedures is all one needs to play around with, while developing user-friendly websites.

What is Search Engine Optimisation ?

Download PDF file below, mentioning common abbreviations and acronyms in the website industry and explaining the difference between On-page / Off-page SEO and marketing of websites :
Then I contacted few more consultants.

An SEO Service Providers Advice on Website Optimization Techniques

Mr. C is a web professional. I asked him the same question – What is search engine optimisation and its cost ? He answered –

    1. Just focus on the quality of your writing and don’t use more than three relevant images, infographic content or videos on a page / blog or else it will look more like an online catalogue.

    2. Not to think about the keyword density and just write around 600 useful words in any page and roughly 1200 in an article because the robots love long text.

    3. Insert as many widgets and badges to give a multimedia kind of feel for the visitors and customers to the website.

    4. Create internal links to your best pages with near exact anchor text, preferably two of the matching keywords or else that has zero value. And add at least one external link to every page or blog too.

    5. Publish between three to four articles in a week. Most bloggers write about the same few topics, often, but in in different forms.

    6. Have all headers from H1 to H6 if possible, because after all why does the H5 or H6 exist ?

    7. Don’t bother about the Meta keyword tag as all websites have abused that promotion strategy to try and achieve front page ranking, already.

    8. Have long-tail URL’s as there is too much competition for the short ones. A website helps in increased profits and that is possible only if it is optimized.

    9. Create a keyword density of between 1% to 1.5% and not more or else the crawlers will punish you.

    10. Build a separate page for each key-phrase otherwise one loses the context. After all relevance is everything.

    11. You can have a maximum of two hyphens in the domain name and non-hyphenated ones are not as preferred due to the latest changes in the algorithms.

    12. Google Plus is the best place for branding and marketing content. Then LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter, in descending order.

    13. Don’t insert photos above 100 kb in size to enable fast loading for your website. Adaptive pages should be light.

    14. Gaining backlinks is part of the Off-page Optimization because one needs to email authority sites, requesting them for linking to you.

    15. Submission on Bing and Google Webmaster Tools Console is part of Off-page website optimisation. We include that in our process regardless of whether one wants SEM from us or not.

    16. It’s better to use Magento or Shopify vs WooCommerce for a shopping portal as WordPress does not focus on just one specialty, but all.

But overall it’s a nice option as it consists of many features, enables easy updation of websites and ends up helping in improving online exposure to procure clients.

    17. Add your URL in the description of a YouTube video, for increasing prominence. Plus, that improves domain authority for companies too.

    18. Guest blogging is important as that helps in producing incoming links.

    19. Research your keyword thoroughly as there is too much of competition for common key-phrases.

    20. It’s highly necessary to have a key-phrase containing domain name because that assists in obtaining a better organic visibility for companies.

Jesus. OK, let’s give it a last try and visit Mr. D.
And this is what he recommended when I discussed the points above with him –

A Website Optimization Expert Explaining SEO Procedures

    1. Focus on the quality of the text but you can insert 7 or 8 clear and high-resolution pictures on each page or blog to give a designer look to your website.

    2. Keyword density is crucial and don’t write more than 400 useful words in any page and 1000 in an article, as no one has the time to read more than that.

And short paragraphs are an essential requirement for better readability.

    3. Do not add more than one widget or badge inside any post because the crawlers hate too much of JavaScript.

    4. Do not create internal links matching the anchor text. Instead try and insert only one of the keywords in it, to make it look natural. Add at least one outgoing link for every 100 words you have on any page or article post.

    5. Publish only one high-value article every 10 days, to ensure concentration on quality rather than quantity.

    6. Not to have all forms of header tags. Instead just go up to H3 and not further, or else you might lose the prominence of the H1 and H2.

    7. The Meta keyword tag is still vital. It makes it easier for the search engines to clearly understand which key phrase one is trying to rank for.

    8. Long-tail URL’s are ok, but give first priority to short ones, so that they’re easily crawlable. That is to enhance user-experience in websites.

    9. A key-phrase density of slightly above 1% is too low. It should be between 2.5% to 3% if you want to beat competitors in online positioning and attain a first page visibility.

    10. It’s moronic to have a separate page for each keyword because then the robots would understand you’re creating a site for them and not for users.

    11. Any person telling you to use one or two hyphens in the domain name is either insane or is not cognizant of the technique.

    12. Facebook helps in generating the best traffic, followed by Pinterest, Google Plus, YouTube, LinkedIn and Twitter.

    13. Nowadays due to broadband, website’s size and ensuring loading speed are not much to worry about, hence one should insert only high-resolution photos !

    14. Gaining backlinks is part of the On-page SEO procedure. Whoever calls is Off-page SEO is either crazy or trying to dupe you.

How can one generate incoming links or traffic if his/her website has low quality content ?

    15. Submission on Bing and Google Webmaster Accounts is Off-page SEO, but not part of SEM.

    16. Magento is for developers. A person not knowing the tricks of the trade, can neither optimise his website nor make any updations.

Shopify is not a great option as its capabilities in terms of enabling high visibility are limited.

WordPress WooCommerce is the ideal choice as it is the most search engine friendly and possible for a non-professional to manage and update too, with a slight effort.

And that little effort is worth it.

If your product is good then WordPress WooCommerce will surely provide the best possible result, being the largest CMS platform in the world.

    17. Though adding the URL address in the description of a YouTube video helps as the robots notice you but then it is an indirect form of mild spam.

    18. Why do you want to try guest blogging ? Wouldn’t you have your own website to publish as many articles you would like to ?

    19. I’m not a great believer in too much of keyword research. It helps a bit though. Don’t forget – the web is not just about relevance. It is also about originality.

Keywords have to be topical as well as unique.

    20. It’s better not to add a keyword inside your URL as using only your company’s or organization’s name as the domain is the top bet.
Though, the ideal situation would be if your company’s name itself already includes an industry related keyword.
Now, there is no hard and fast rule when it comes to such specific technical issues like creating a Balance in Content and SEO processes, as covered in the topic above.

    It all depends upon :

    • The customer’s requirement,
    • Budget,
    • What satisfies him or achieved so far and aiming for,
    • Kind of leads and buyers targeted,
    • Type-of and size of profession and
    • The amount of time one can dedicate for refining own website.

need for off page web seo

Off-page Optimisation for Gaining More Visitors

Companies aware of the need for Website SEO, gain leads and exposure in front of the online audience, top search engines and social media networks too.
And of course, inserting duplicate content, flash based animations, over-optimising anchor text and animated image based menus are negative practices in the website search engine optimization task.
Download below, Microsoft PPS Slide related to : Avoidable Techniques in Website SEO –

What is Search Engine Optimisation ?

Tip – Use fresh images and videos and create internal links to your best pages to improve online visibility in websites.

Website SEM produces better results than PPC advertisements.
Websites desire number one positioning as most people click on organic listings.
Search engine optimization yields a higher return and helps in reaching out to 42% of the searchers on the internet vs 23% through paid online advertising campaigns.

Most People Click On Organic Listings

As far as I’m concerned i’m still asking myself – What is search engine optimisation after all ?

Aiming for developing audience-friendly websites. Short Movie, with our Company URL Address with Phone Number below :

    Optimizing A Website For Users

The goal of optimising websites and blogs is achieving top visibility on search engines.

And that is possible by providing useful information to visitors and this exercise auto-improves positioning on the crawlers.

how to optimize a website for users

    Optimizing A Website For Users

Maybe we could segregate the process of SEO in two branches – Front-end and Back-end Optimization respectively.

The former could be interpreted as required procedures like for example :

    • Creating quality content,
    • An impressive website title,
    • Adding topical text,
    • Using proper keyword density,
    • Producing internal and outgoing links,
    • Relevant page titles and headlines,
    • Enabling intuitive navigation,
    • Choosing images or videos for insertion,
    • Publishing exquisite blogs,
    • Correcting crawl errors,
    • Creating a landing page,
    • Designing striking layouts,
    • Writing short paragraphs and sentences,
    • Ensuring fast loading of pages,
    • Mobile phone compatibility and
    • Inserting a prominent “call-to-action” button etc.

Whereas, the latter may be pertaining to the process of :

      • Entering meta descriptions,
      • Meta keyword tags,
      • Image alt tags,
      • Generating high-value backlinks,
      • Photo optimisation,
      • Using the data highlighter tool and
      • Sitemap or URL submissions etc.

    One could also say that front-end optimization is primarily to engage the users or influencing the audience;

Back-end SEO for a Website is mainly for helping the top search engines like Google and Bing to understand and index your pages in a better and faster way.

And obviously both are crucial for rendering optimized websites, generating a great user-experience and online organic exposure success on SERP’s.

Optimizing A Website For Users First And Search Engines Later

    1. Domain Names – One could find a domain name like pat10ts4quinine dot com. No problem in that. But does it sound easy for the audience to understand ?

However, patentsforquinine dot com surely sounds easy for the visitors to grasp. That’s why domains containing numbers are user-unfriendly.

    1. Website Title – If we continue with the above mentioned example then, it would be advisable to name the main title of that website as “Patents for Quinine” instead of something like “Patents for Medicines”.

Reason being, that a visitor clicking on the domain “patentsforquinine dot com” would feel confused if he notices the website title as “Patents for Medicines” as one would assume that it is selling patents for many kinds of healthcare related products.

On the other hand, even the crawlers might mark consider that as black-hat SEO for a website.

Spiders don’t mind you targeting more than one keyword in an entire site. After all what are web pages for ?

One can always dedicate a page for one or few of them. So it would be better to use a wider term for both the domain as well as the main title in cases one is targeting more than one product.

But a big question crops up in such a case, as there is a formal or an informal rule that the top two identification marks in any website i.e. the “URL” and the “Main Title” itself, must focus on one single key phrase.

Of course this is not a mandatory requirement, but the spiders solve two purposes by this algorithm –

Firstly, they reduce the chances of buyers reaching non-relevant or half-topical sites

Secondly, they give an opportunity to all site owners to have a fair chance of natural online exposure for their specialty on SERP’s.

So, be careful on this aspect, if optimizing a website for users as well as organic visibility. Other methods just don’t work out.

Having said that, digital marketing on social media networks, is a completely different ball-game as it really doesn’t matter how well or bad your site is optimised for the spiders.

But still try best to produce :

    • Useful information,
    • An audience-friendly feel,
    • Ease of navigation through the main link menu,
    • Simple readability and
    • Purposeful content like text inside the main page body, images and videos which increase brand awareness.

    1. Page Titles – If a particular site is about the healthcare industry or something similar then one could name the pages like “the wonders of modern research”, “medical equipment for sale”, “the best hospitals in the city” or bla bla bla.

But if one starts promoting a page called “the top hospitals in town” for a key phrase namely “the best dentists in the capital” then of course it will irritate the online followers.

And such a site would produce a high bounce rate, even if it has quality information. So, why would the robot rank such a site, regardless of the fact that a visitor can find lots of valuable and useful content inside ?

From the search engine’s point of view it makes a case for penalizing the site, because –

Firstly they would send visitors to content-irrelevant sites (which they never want)

Secondly to punish the site for trying to create a ranking for multiple keywords through shady practices.

There is no problem in organically optimising a web page for more than one key phrase as long as roughly two-thirds of the total text is directly related to its name i.e. the first word inside the slug URL.

No such firm written rule here, however.

Bounce rate is an extremely vital factor for the crawlers, which assists them in positioning you on the result pages.

Or else one could also say that the spiders first evaluate and judge if a site will appeal to the visitors, match the crucial requirements of clients and then decide where to position you on the organic SERP’s (preceeding link leads to a downloadable pdf document).

So yes, that proves why front-end SEO for a website is actually more or less like optimizing a website for users – and not for trying to achieve top search engine rankings.

Spiders need you to improve your site so that it becomes customer-friendly.

    1. Text – Any visitor would feel a bit distracted if he sees the phrase for example “John is the best rally driver” mentioned 35 times in a web page which has 500 words. Well, maybe not. I don’t know. The robot might penalize you for that however.

The point is that regardless of the fact whether “John is the best rally driver” is a key phrase or not, the script surely would be far more easily readable if the same has a reasonable density.

For example – A keyword density as low as 0.25% makes websites invisible on search. Whereas key-phrase stuffing anywhere higher than 7% makes them unreadable and punishable by Google and Bing.

Reason being that then the copywriter would have far more room for adding more topical information about John’s driving skills, his achievements, records etc., inside the page.

That’s what the audience wants to know and remember.

The followers need answers to common questions vis a vis – Why is John declared as the greatest ? How did he reach this position ?

By whom was he declared as the top driver? When is he competing next ? How old is he ? What trophy did he win ? Where did he learn driving ?

Which is his favorite car ? Who is sponsoring him ? Which country does he belong to ? Among which competitors did he win ? What are the factors which made him such an expert driver ? And so on.

So according to Search Engine Optimisation Consultants if any developer uses that specific phrase anywhere between 3 to 4 times in a page with roughly 500 words then that developer might be optimizing a website for users.

    1. Images – If I have a page on “how to cook cereals” and out of the total of five visible pictures or videos on the particular page, one is showing skyscrapers in New York (which is my personal interest), then obviously that might distract the audience and raise an eyebrow too. Maybe they will laugh too.

Having said that, this particular aspect may sometimes not make a big difference neither to the visitors nor to the crawlers, provided the overall content inside the site is mobile-friendly, enables simple navigation and contains fantastic detailed, fresh information.

But I would be reducing chances of a guaranteed high online ranking on the internet if my competitor’s site is only adding topical photos to a similar quality page attracting greater visibility on SERP’s.

Maybe. It all depends. Because if I have original and better content providing descriptive information, then maybe I won’t be hit.

But then why should I take any risk by possibly (if not certainly) annoying my customers, while improving my visitor-friendly page, just because I love that skyscraper ?

So once again I would be improving my web page for the followers, by inserting content relevant videos high quality images, original and sensible information.

On the other hand would i be optimising my website for the spiders if i remove that building’s picture ?

Because i have produced a perfect website with great overall content and an appealing design and will rank well, regardless of including that skyscraper photo or not.

    Maybe Yes.

But still, i would improve my web pages for the crawlers as well as the visitors, both, even if i want to but am unable to tell people about my personal hobbies, in such a case, or else what is the purpose of a website which is unable to impress my target audience ?

Remember – Optimizing a Website for Users is the most important requirement for developing quality websites. A visitor-friendly page helps in gaining online exposure.

It would be better for me to remove that skyscraper’s image and optimise my web pages for gaining subscribers on one hand and achieving at least some reasonable amount of organic traffic if not as much as i always expect.

Yes, quite often, one ends up implementing SEO for a Website so that the robots notice the quality of your web pages, which eventually helps you in gaining high online traffic and beat competition.
The spiders would appreciate that and so would your subscribers.

PJ SEO Specialists – Implementing SEO for a Website for Gaining Traffic

    I Thought I Made A Perfect Website

A lot of us fantasize about building an ideal website for providing the best user-experience to customers.

I don’t know if that is possible. But still most people strive for something like that.

    I do too.

Some would define audience-friendly websites as the ones which have animations, contains lots of colored pictures and look absolutely beautiful.

For some, the one which provides as much bona fide information as possible through the simplest form of navigation would be the best.

Yes, maybe that’s how you could define a near-to-ultimate website.

For others it may be the one which appears on the first page of Google and Bing.

And even I thought I made a perfect website which could become popular to that extent.

But, one can also derive that the peak moment would only be if one is able to list within a Bing or Google Featured Snippet.
However, it’s not easy to achieve that.

a perfect website can gain a placement in the google featured snippets

An Ideal Web Page Can Gain A Placement In The Google Featured Snippets

I Was Under The Impression That I Made An Ideal Website

It’s difficult to spell out the exact criteria for rankings of such high nature, but in general, one would need to the following in audience-friendly websites, blogs or web pages –

    • Write relevant, fresh and genuine words and sentences,
    • Create content for the latest trending questions,
    • Induce curiosity in the audience,
    • Display an attractive look,
    • Enable easy and intuitive navigation functionalities,
    • Optimize well vis a vis having the right headers, proper key-phrase density, appropriate image and video file names, Alt tags and detailed information to be useful and suitable to buyers and viewers,
    • Link web pages internally as well as externally, with valuable sources such as social networks and topic related authority sites.
    • Add a prominent “call-to-action” button on the front page,
    • Submit internal content on Bing and Google Webmaster Tools Console,
    • Ensure Smartphone compatibility,
    • Produce fast loading pages,
    • Photo optimization,
    • Type short paragraphs,
    • Insert original videos,
    • Remove elements creating congestion,
    • Type appropriate synonyms in the text body and
    • Much more.

Like many, I too believed that I had created a perfect website by the end of the last year, after spending 6 months on designing and optimizing the same.

But Then This Is What I Experienced :

    • January – One day I gasped in surprise while browsing my pages – “What” ? I should have added one hyphen in between the two words of my main URL.

What should I do now ? Anyway I had no option but to digest that. Took me the rest of the month to get over it and move on.

So, it’s always better to add one hyphen in between the words in the main domain, especially if you have a URL Address containing two words. Not mandatory though.

    • February – I’m in love with my site and regularly keep browsing it for rechecks. In the second week of the month I got another shock of my life when i noticed – I named my “Site Title” as “Sem Consultant” instead of ‘SEM Consultant”.

I made such a stupid mistake ? What kind of impression have I given to the whole world about myself by doing so ? However, I corrected the error immediately.

Use “upper case” for abbreviations. Who knows – maybe the robot might take “Sem” as a spelling error for the word “Same”. Maybe it won’t.

Because you don’t have stupid robots, you have stupid human beings, though. But then why not correct something which I can and play it safe ?

    • March – Right in the beginning of the month I found another careless mistake which I had made. 1 word in two of my “page titles” was restated twice for the 4th web page and thrice in the 11th. Can’t believe this.

Try removing duplicate and repeated words in such areas regardless of whether it is an article post or a standard page. Such practices need to be completely eliminated.

    • April – I corrected the only 2 major faults I had on my site. Wonderful. Let’s go through it again and try to be prouder than before. What ? This is so embarrassing.

My gravatar image is linked to my gravatar profile. That’s the default setting and I never bothered to change the default setting. Hurry Hurry – Remove that before the robot sees me again.

    Don’t create links through pictures.

    • May – First three weeks gone and no fault detected so far. Bingo. I’ve hit the jackpot. I’m a pro now. After all now i’m fully convinced that iv’e produced a perfect website.

But in the last week during a regular check – Again ? This can’t be true. Two of my pages contain zero links.

No outgoing, incoming or internal linking ? Ok, repair this now, immediately. Create those.

So – Add a few worthwhile and relevant links. This is an important element. Try your best to do so if you really want to improve chances of achieving a higher position and ensure decent visibility on the SERP’s.

    • June – Ya, I think it’s done now. That’s it. I don’t need to recheck. Take it easy. I’m 100% sure I’ve created a great website. After all I’m not building a site for the crawlers. It’s for users, to assist them in making a sensible purchase. But then why not have a repeat look.

Alarm Bell. There is “no hyphen” in between words in 1 of the slugs and 1 meta tag on another web page !

Well – Hurry Up. Correct it soon. Quick. All set now.

Remember adding a hyphen in between the words inside the meta tags and slugs, necessarily.

    • July – What more can there be ? I’ve double and triple checked everything. Isn’t it ? But then I want to reconfirm. ……. I knew it. After all what could I expect from myself ?

I had changed the page address for one of my social media accounts last week.

But I forgot to update the outgoing URL to that network from my site and now it is showing an error after I click on it.

And I thought I made a perfect website ! Lol. Ok, rectify that fast.

Try fixing broken links wherever possible and noticeable. Procuring high quality backlinks, can assist in getting closer to number one rank on Google and Bing.

    Websites :

    • Enable focus on improving service by saving the time required in pre-sales,
    • Bring business success,
    • Create an option to market content,
    • Magnify the effect of social media marketing,
    • Helping in increased sales and better profits,
    • Produce and deliver targeted leads by saving the effort in approaching non-interested prospects,
    • Help reach unknown buyers from untapped markets and
    • Generate visibility on social networks.
    • August – I’m getting so many visitors. So many hits. After all there must be something “big” about my site. But as usual I’m not satisfied. Let’s evaluate why I’m on page two or three of SERP’s ……….. “Meta Description” this time. Jesus. I swapped the descriptions in two of the pages, after copying and pasting from my MS Word file, by error.

Those two are SEO-unfriendly since the last few months and I didn’t even notice.

The page which is providing info on Google Ranking Factors has a meta description for one on Social Media Marketing, and vice versa.

And not only that – Due to this fault, the particular text paragraphs are now keyword stuffed, amounting to Spam. C’mon. Set the Key phrases right.

Careless mistakes like key phrase stuffing, spam and writing irrelevant content have to be avoided, at any cost.

Google Keyword Planner, Wikipedia and Quora may be useful in enabling the above.

    • September – Let’s check the Headings … They’re okay. Thank God. For a change. No mistake. I had marked all the starting headlines as “H2” during the site construction process, as my WordPress theme generates an auto H1 tag in the titles.

I know that those plugins create the best chance of high online positioning but – You can take the horse to the pool but can’t make him drink.

Avoid having multiple “Text Headlines”, if possible.

    • October – Leave it now. Don’t bother. That’s enough. Who cares ? There’s no limit to this after all. It’s not possible to build a perfect website. i’ve understood now. But wait. My friend just pointed out something. It has nothing to do with optimization, however. But I think he’s right. He mentioned that i’m not clarifying “what i do and why” properly. I need to tell the visitors how i can help them. And some of the site colors and images could be changed for better responsiveness, a higher conversion and a lower bounce rate.

This is one of the important tasks to implement when you’re Improving a User-friendly Website !

Explain your capabilities, specialties, how you can help and procedures you undertake, to the visitors, through genuine text content.

Address The Questions By Your Audience

In addition, try and improve the photos, colors and design in the website, to make it more visitor-friendly.

Animated images visible on all types of screens, add an extra flavor to sites.

    I Don’t Know Why I Thought I Made A Perfect Website

    • November – OH, is it like that ? I just learnt something new. There have been some new disclosures in the industry circles, lately. I have to check those critical aspects. I’m sure very few knew about these. Can’t say.

Technology is changing and so are SEO Algorithms and Spiders. User experience signals influence rankings nowadays. Ok I’m headed back to my laptop.

It is possible to develop a great website if one focuses on creating user-friendly web content and is able to and quick enough to adapt as per updated internet technologies.

    • December – AAAAAhhh. That process is no longer relevant according to that top expert, who just announced that today.

Is it really giving a negative signal to the search engines ? So I need to modify a couple of blogs due to that ?

Well, I have no choice. Let’s get on with it and cancel the holiday.

Video above, by Brian Dean of Backlinko : Indicating how to generate website traffic and tips on online grading factors. Quality user experience and backlinks can help in number one ranking on Google –

    A well-developed website with :

      • Informative and genuine content,
      • Simple and clutter-free navigation for users
      • Smartphone compatibility,
      • Fast loading speed,
      • Responsive and adaptive layouts,
      • Topical videos and motion graphics,
      • Appropriate meta data,
      • Proper keyword density,
      • Sitemap,
      • Infographics,
      • Social media sharing capabilities,
      • Incoming and outgoing links and
      • Photo slides

can possibly assist in attracting visitors and also rank on first page of Google and Bing.

And I thought I made a perfect website.

    Why WordPress Is The Best

One can always opt for a fully programmed self-hosted website instead of hosting the same on different template theme based platforms like Shopify, Wix, Magento, Joomla, Point2Homes and similar.

All generate smartphone responsive pages, adequate security, maintenance, add-ons, plugins etc.

Why WordPress Is The Best Template Website Building Portal ?

why wordPress is the best website hosting service

Why WordPress Is The Best Website Hosting Service

    1. Most reliable in terms of server connectivity – Chances of the platform, ever being down, are negligible.

    2. Customer Care – 24 hr. online chat support for business category memberships.
Of course sometimes you end up emailing but that’s ok because one gets chat support mostly.

And to top that, the forum experts are geniuses out there.

    3. Security – This website hosting portal is very reliable in terms of privacy of data, internally as well as from hacking threats which helps in additional trustworthiness.

All URL’s being https format too – which enables further safety. Automatic service by the back-end software.

    4. Wide choice in theme designs – Being an extremely vast aspect, some designers might say that more is needed.
But if I’m not wrong, it seems WordPress is intentionally going slow on highly fancy animated graphics.

As the risks involved vis a vis Speed, Interface Stability, Cumbersome Updation Features, Expensive Procedures, Compatibility Problems etc. while publishing web pages are quite many.

Still I would say : The portal scores one more plus point here, as most would agree that it’s better to make-do with a slightly lesser stylish look, as compared to the possibilities in self-hosted websites where any theme could be imported from anywhere.

But to ensure a better experience in terms of lower costs, stability, reliability, consistency, ease in performing amendments, functionality and fast loading speed in websites – that little compromise is a no-brainer.

    5. Easy to use Plugins – A wide variety for :

    • Security,
    • Image compression,
    • Animations,
    • Anti-spam,
    • Page designing,
    • Broken-link checkers,
    • Backups,
    • Sitemap generation,
    • CSS customization,
    • Photo convertors,
    • Keyword checkers,
    • Video file assistants,
    • Audio and media document compatibility helpers,
    • Software collaborators and applications for easy rendering of smartphone responsive pages and many more.

Not as many options available as one could find in a self-hosted website, but again, Why WordPress is the Best is because of the in-built variety of plugins it has is immense, and you hardly miss much.

Looking at the larger picture, better to adjust within the framework, to ensure a better safety of your own website, by using only the best plugins in the industry, approved by the portal, instead of experimenting with some vaporware in the market.

    6. On-page SEO – As usual, wonderful facilities to create “featured content” like Blogs, Testimonials etc. on the home page, adding excerpts etc. for a first-grade level optimization and marketing on search engines.

    7. Off-page SEO – Fantastic features with backlinking and sharing functionality with social media marketing portals, generating a top level prominence on online results.

    8. Blogs – A great platform for creating Article Posts.
Provides vast exposure on its large network of online community, followers and audience for the best visibility on the leading search engines.

Another few advantages like the RSS feed feature, importing Blogger posts etc – which deliver a positive user-experience.

    9. Freebies – One enjoys many free-of-cost features related to the entire site building, improvements in navigation processes, while creating a hosted website on, which in reality play their part in higher web rankings online.

    10. Auto Optimisation – The built-in jetpack website optimization plugin elevates your pages to a great extent.

    11. Ease of import from Photoshop – A design friendly portal.
Create a site in Photoshop and export those PSD images directly to your WordPress website and the same are visible crystal sharp online.

    12. Mobile-friendly Sites – Smartphone compatible pages generated automatically and that too with the AMP feature – A partnership with Google !

Ten times less bandwidth used by Accelerated Mobile Pages and 700 thousand domains using the same latest technology.

According to The Washington Post survey, a 23% increase in repeat phone search was noticed in web pages using Google AMP.

A 73% jump in per monthly unique visitors was noted in cellphone search due to four times fast loading speed in websites.

Companies like The Guardian  Pinterest, Reddit, CNN, The Times of India, The New York Times and eBay are using AMP to ensure smartphone responsive pages in the mobile versions of their websites.

73% Increase in Visitors from Mobile Search

    13. Responsive Themes – The paid ones are mostly fully adaptive, having attractive layouts, to enable viewing on all screen sizes and devices like smartphones, tablets, laptops, desktop computers etc.

    14. Popularity through Trust – Around 25% of the top 50000 sites ranked on Alexa are built on WordPress currently.

    15. Open Source Platform – Not just restricted to the designs and layouts in the template themes.
The easiest portal for carrying out an update in web pages.
In addition, this application can be customized to a great extent too, through further coding or css support, while producing major changes in websites.
    16. Reasonable Cost – Thoroughly a value for money service, as it is inexpensive to maintain and providing much more at cheaper annual cost, compared to its competitors.

    17. Not just one of those “only blogging sites” – A complete template theme based website builder, which also provides full-fledged article posting facilities and “blog-only site” creation option too, side by side.

In fact a very good and an economical choice for E-Commerce portals too.

    18. Auto Maintenance – All code related issues are handled by the system within, by the back-end software.

    19. Support – In fixing broken inbound links and almost all technical, design and security related issues.

    20. Flexibility – Choice to add a variety of media files like animations, slideshows and videos on pages !

    21. Convenience in Updates : This web hosting service provider presents enormous simplicity in data updations.

Changes and alterations made inside pages or blog posts appear instantly online.

The last reason why WordPress is the Best is because it provides an option to upload files in various formats – including Widgets, PDF and Audio to your site.

Having said that, there are a few areas where the platform could probably improve upon.

For Ex. – Permission to put up Ads, allowing subscribers from country like India to buy domain linked business email ID’s or maybe use Subdomains too.

Maybe some other email service provider in addition to G Suite could be added, to enable members from all countries buy a business email ID’s.
Though it seems G Suite has opened the subscription facility for Indian subscribers too. In addition, the monetization facility also has been added by, for hosted-websites now.

The benefits like ease in making changes, reasonable cost, top grade optimization capabilities etc. are far far many as compared to the limitations.

There are endless number of hosted websites built-on WordPress, which are in real, on Page One of Google. And that’s no coincidence.

I can say for sure, that some (not all) of those sites, if made on and running through other web hosting companies will not be able to reach the front page of the leading search engines.

After all optimization, content and design is not everything. Server quality, reliability, trustworthiness and reputation too play an important part in your online ranking.

How To Choose An SEO Expert

Let’s say you have a 10 – 20 page website and need search engine optimisation for the same or else want a new one of roughly the same size.

A common question often crops up : How do i judge a website optimization and digital marketing company to improve the organic ranking of my web pages ?

Or else – how to choose an SEO expert for improvement in ones website results on Google ?

how to choose an seo and internet marketing expert

How To Choose An SEO And Internet Marketing Company

Some ways to find out could be to ask them if :

    • They are prepared to show you the results of their own pages through online audits or live comparison charts,

    • Do they take quality content approach with search engine optimization ?

    • What digital channels do they use for promotion ?

Structured data markup, advertisements pushing organic listings down, rich snippets and use of localization are inducing big changes in website results on Google.

In addition, updations in ranking algorithms like crawling mobile pages before desktop versions, priority for fast loading websites etc. create a further complexity related to the question of – How To Choose An SEO Expert ?

algorithm changes determine website results on google

Algorithm Changes Determine Website Results On Google

Let’s just cover the questions and answers in this blog, as reasons if described will make this article too long.

And of course pertaining to small sites in the range of between 10 to 20 pages.

However, as the number of in-house article posts grow gradually, most websites do end up being quite large in size, eventually.

How To Select A Search Engine Optimisation Service Provider ?

    1. Q. Now, would you select any professional who would optimise your pages for 100 keywords or 20 for a better click-through-rate (CTR) ?

    A. Well, the latter is the honest one. You won’t reach anywhere if trying to rank for 100 key phrases.

    2. Q. Would you feel impressed with any digital marketing specialist if he says that your site would be search-engine-unfriendly if its domain has a hyphen in the URL because hyphens are difficult to remember ?

Or maybe something like – The keyword phrase density should be minimum 5% to enable promotion ?

    A. Trash that kind of advise, please. Domains with single hyphens are search-engine-compliant and a keyword density of roughly 2% is enough.

    3. Q. Would you be impressed with any company if they say that template sites built on WordPress or Point2Agent etc. have too many limitations, hence not likely to produce ideal website results on Google and Bing ?

    A. Once again. A classic example of either lack of knowledge or some vested interest in mind.

Websites on self-hosted platforms too have limitations vis a vis difficulties in making changes, stability issues, security threats and many more.

    4. Q. Would you be happy if your service provider comes up with a unique plan like for example – buying links and compensating the expenditure by monetizing through online advertisements ?

    A. “Don’t buy that story” and “Don’t buy incoming links”. And don’t fill up your website with Ads.

    5. Q. Would you feel convinced if any internet marketing agent comes up with some new formula wherein advising the importance of the required elements for optimization in the following descending order :

    • Elegant design,
    • Topic specific text content,
    • Social media and email marketing,
    • Slides and presentations,
    • Animated videos and topical infographics,
    • Fast loading speed with easy browsing facility,
    • Generating quality backlinks,
    • URL submission on Bing and Google webmaster console,
    • Blog publishing and
    • Keyword research

to achieve the best results on the SERP’s ?

    A. Again – This is another sign of an incompetent online marketing agent.

Though relevant content in websites is the most important element, but easy browsing and fast loading of pages cannot be ranked lower than email marketing by any means.

Experienced and trustworthy service providers would never recommend the above in descending order.

Tip – Check if your website is loading quick enough on Google PageSpeed Insights by visiting

Fast rendering pages assist in producing a satisfactory user-experience, better sales for businesses and high online visibility on search engines too.

Design, digital media and email marketing, photos, slides, videos, infographics, images and blogs – all help in gathering backlinks from authority websites and hence essential features for web development.

    6. Q. Would you feel good if you suggest any domain name and website title excluding your companies name to make the maximum use of keywords in both, and the agency, accepts that demand without any reservations ?

    A. Beware of such sycophants.

A genuine website optimisation consultant knows the secret about how to use key phrases and would always recommend including your company’s name at least partly if not fully, inside the domain name and the website title.

Video Animation above : A website optimisation service provider in New Delhi, India. Agency for web development, On-page SEO and Off-page Optimization on the best social media portals

    7. Q. Does the owner of that Company (you’re considering hiring), has enough time to guide his employees during the site construction process ?

Does he reveal the reasons for why WordPress is the best website for generating highly ranked web pages ?

Did he disclose the real fact that SMM on Google Plus, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter and other similar social networks are never-ending processes if one wants to keep up with the competing sites on internet ?

Or else is it the other way round – that the owner himself is for example an investment banker but is running a SEM company through his employees, as the Website Development and SEO business has a swiftly growing market ?

    A. Avoid service providers who are busy attending to the job, at a personal level.

    8. Q. Does that Agency claim that organic optimization is a myth and the only way to gather leads, customers and buyers is through Pay-Per-Click (PPC) Ads ?

    A. Beware of such agencies, as natural optimisation, even though a long term exercise, ends up as a cheaper option, produces long lasting results and higher web rankings eventually.

Having said that, using marketing modes such as Pay-Per-Click Advertising, Blog Writing, Social Media Networking, Using Google Analytics for improving traffic, Email Promotion, Creating Video Animations and Content Marketing play a crucial role in the entire promotion process.

Most likely that suggestion is coming from someone who wants to circumvent some hard work related to On-page SEO.

    9. Q. Does the agency show you “Rank Compare Analysis” (with some of his competitor’s) or any “Online Audit” for his own website through a live comparison chart on any of the top portals like MOZ, SEMrush, Majestic, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog etc. ?

Or else did he show you the results for his own or his clients site on Google PageSpeed Insights and Google Mobile-Friendly Test ?

    A. More people than before are on the move constantly which makes them use cell phones for their buying decisions.

Smartphone compatibility is an essential requirement for creating user-friendly and optimized websites from now on, hence necessary to analyse your site on the Google Mobile-friendly Test Tool.

Rank comparison is important too because there is too much competition for achieving high online visibility and that’s how competitors try and surpass you through regular checks and evaluation through testing tools of various kinds.

Same goes for loading speed in websites. Fast rendering pages are crucial to retain visitors for longer periods on your websites.

Technology updates and major changes in optimisation procedures are enabling people to read information without clicking on the links, nowadays.

How To Choose An SEO Expert For Your Business or Profession ?

If you base your decision on choosing a Web Developer, after judging him / her on the above mentioned issues, the dilemma regarding – How to choose an SEO Expert, will be solved automatically, to a large extent.

Remember – Website results on Google and Bing are dependent upon many factors including :

    • Writing fresh content as per client requirements,
    • Blogging,
    • Mobile optimized content,
    • Appropriate page headlines,
    • Link building,
    • Proper meta descriptions,
    • Image alt tags,
    • Easily clickable links,
    • Compatibility with all devices including cellphones, desktops and tablets,
    • Simple Navigation through simple menus,
    • Social media marketing and many more factors.

Natural Optimization induces a low bounce rate and a higher organic rank for websites.

One needs to understand that only a genuine website optimisation consultant can manage to deal with such changes as it requires adapting to the latest technology to maintain and improve online presence.

SMO, SERP, HTTPS, UX, URL and UI are terms in the website construction and SEO exercise. CPC, SMM, PPC and SEM are acronyms related to website marketing field.
Is Web Development and SEO a difficult job ? Yes and No. It depends upon many factors.

But if one considers an example where three conditions come into play, simultaneously :

    • The site is being developed or optimized by a small or a medium business owner,
    • The site owner is not a web professional and reads a few short tutorials on the topic, online,
    • Hosted on a leading platform like WordPress or similar (if the word “Similar” exists in the dictionary).

Elements of Web Development and SEO

    1. Choosing a domain name – One doesn’t need to be a wizard for that kind of assignment. Any URL is fine as long as :

    • i. Commonly an SEO-friendly domain consists of anywhere between two to three words,
    • ii. Non-hyphenated or a max of 2 hyphens,
    • iii. Less than 14 characters,
    • iv. Includes your or your business name in full or in part,
    • v. Synonymous to the business or topic your website is about or is trying to sell.

In any case, it is not such a big deal even if someone diverges a bit from the above recommendations, barring exceptions where crazy experiments are tried.

After all what’s there in the name “Google”, which suggests that it is a search engine, to any novice ? So, Yes, choosing a domain name is quite simple.

    2. Naming your website having your or your companies name – Naming your site, as advisable in tutorials, is a no-brainer, as any person in full senses, knows what his/her or his/her company or profession’s name is.

    3. Creating appropriate page titles between 55 to 65 characters, including spaces – Again not something where one would need any thorough knowledge of website construction.

Of course there are some factors to consider here, and it may require experience and talent to write proper page titles.

However, just a slightly above average intellect might suffice, after going through a short 10 minute tutorial and analysis on the specific issue.

Page titles should be unique, between 55 to 65 letters, written in a natural way, placed at the top in the html code, defining the topic clearly, signifying your brand name and devoid of special characters.

    Appropriate Web Page Titles

    4. Writing meta descriptions between 150 to 155 characters long – Again, another element which requires only basic technical knowledge before insertion.

As we have progressed slowly, it has started getting a bit complex, due to more and more factors to consider.

This is surely a considerable issue for the ones who are serious and cognizant of how crucial SEO is in today’s competitive world.

    5. Writing fresh and quality content and updating the same regularly – This is where the real game begins in the Web Development and SEO craft.

Creating a spectacular content with adequate page length, anchor text, keyword density and placement, headlines, sub-headings, meta tags, high standard paragraphs, simple navigation, creation of outgoing links and the intricacies involved in the image addition process are complex issues and directly or indirectly, a part of On-page SEO.

But then it could be a piece of cake for someone having a high IQ level. Surely a bit complicated but nothing close to a software programmers IQ level needed.

    6. Smartphone responsive theme – Again cannot be considered an experts task – due to the built-in WordPress Jetpack plugin which renders AMP-compatible pages, automatically.

However, mobile compatibility may turn out to be one of the complicated procedures, if one is developing a programmed site.

A portal like WordPress, which influences 25% of the entire website industry globally is loved by web developers as :

    • It is super flexible,
    • Highly customizable,
    • Reduces development work and
    • Produces attractive pages with full mobile compatibility

through its highly sophisticated software, automatically.

    7. Page Design – A kid’s job ? Sort of. In a way, Yes. We are not discussing designing a corporate catalogue or some animated virtual tour, here.
Special effects are flash animations look fabulous. But the same restrict high visibility on the SERP’s.
Of what use is a designer website if it prevents the searchers finding you on organic result pages ?
    8. On-page SEO – The built-in or importable plugins sort out issues such as page speed, photo optimization, maintenance, security, cell phone compatibility etc., to a large extent, if not fully.

But then largely it is a job best left to any trusted SEO specialist.
Having said that, the Yoast plugin is a great tool which makes life easier for so many service providers optimizing websites for clients.

    9. Off-page Optimisation – Organizing the social media accounts, managing the webmaster tools console, link creation and updations.
Ya, again this requires some specialist skill.

But then if you got the above eight steps in order then no rocket science required for procuring backlinks at least – reason being, that one would automatically procure some high calibre incoming links from authority websites in such a case.
High Quality Social media marketing on YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, Google Plus, LinkedIn and Twitter facilitates high traffic for websites on search engines.

promotion on youtube facebook pinterest google+ linkedin and twitter

    High-end Digital Promotion & Off-page SEO Services

There may be a few other important things to keep in mind while you share posts on such platforms :

Google Plus, Facebook and Linkedin are low volume-high value portals :

    • It would be better avoiding posting too frequently on Facebook,
    • Make sure your posts don’t dominate the feed on Linkedin,
    • As posting and sharing on Google Plus gives the search engine specific content and keywords to index and link to your business, your posts should be carefully created, to avoid portraying the wrong picture about your profession or occupation.
    • Pinterest and Twitter are both high volume networks.

    10. Email, Internet and Digital Marketing – Tough ? Not at all.

    11. Writing high grade blog posts – Probably the toughest part in the entire exercise.
Because all said and done, after most of the blogs on SEO you see all over the internet is “old wine in new bottle”.

In reality, if the site owner is fully cognizant of the lacunae’s involved in the product he manufactures or the specialized service he provides, then he will actually publish a better blog than any copywriter could.

However, from a broader perspective, online article writing is something which only a copywriting professional can do justice to.

Quality is more important than the quantity of posts.

Or else, an amateur will most likely mess up the entire website, due to mistakes here.

Copywriting professionals nurture their blogs with patience.

Publishing posts consistently enables building a follower fan base and reaching unbelievable heights.

Online article writing is a skill, which gets easier with passage of time, just like an exercise.

Organic Optimisation and Content Marketing Consumes Time

Amazingly, it is still advisable to outsource the job to any suitable Web Development and SEO Agency, because matters such as producing :

    • Appropriate page design,
    • Alt tags for photos,
    • Researching key phrases
    • Url slugs and related issues,
    • Ideal keyword density,
    • Social media marketing,
    • Internal and external linking,
    • Proper page titles,
    • Sitemaps

    Eliminating :

    • Duplicate content,
    • Spam,
    • Broken links and
    • Keyphrase stuffing

all needed for website building and search engine optimization requires so much time that most likely the site owner will end up diminishing the size of his existing business while trying grow or generate online traffic.

Another reason being – One also eliminates the risk of showing an amateurish site to users as well as clients, which would leave a very bad impression on their minds.

One can always debate whether SEO is a difficult job or not, but surely it is an extremely time consuming procedure.
After all Google Plus Facebook YouTube Twitter Pinterest and Linkedin are not the only social networks in the marketplace, to promote on.

Blog writing or video creation for promotion is never a one time affair.
It is better to outsource the optimisation exercise to professionals to save own time for dealing with everyday business activities.

Web Developers, Search Engine Optimisation Consultants, Website Designers , Internet Marketeers and Article Writers – all end up spending a lot of time and energy into their work to try and create ideal or perfect sites for their clients.

    Search Engine Optimization

Why do the crawlers apply so many parameters for ranking websites in their organic listing result pages ?

Surely there is a so called “rule of thumb” in play, when it comes to the business of website optimization – which can be of either On-page or Off-page variety.
SEO implies improving the quality of websites to enable a better user-experience and meet the ranking criteria of the crawlers too, alongside.

    meaning of search engine optimization

SEO – Abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization

Hardly any prominent official restrictions have been imposed upon, nor any formal leverages provided to promotion experts, by the crawlers, vis a vis the procedures deployed by them during quality construction and optimisation of client websites.

But there seems to be a logic behind the most commonly followed rules vis a vis –

    • Backlinks
    • Keyword optimization
    • Topic specific content,
    • Anchor text for both – internal as well as incoming links from authority sites,
    • Appropriate meta tags,
    • User friendly and easy navigation,
    • Compatibility with smartphones or tablets,
    • Content relevant page titles,
    • Informative headings with a meaning,
    • Unique photos,
    • Fast loading and responsive pages

for an effort to achieve a front page ranking on the best crawlers.
The ideal search engine optimization exercise would be to optimize your website based on, first what’s best for the audience, keeping the robots as second in terms of priority.

To help achieve high online rankings – Keywords, sentences and pictures must be useful in solving the common questions like why, when, what and how – in context to the text content inside the website.

    Typical Black-hat Techniques facing Penalty

Tip – To avoid websites downgraded by Google, do not use procedures like :

    • Keyword stuffing,
    • Using spammy or purchased links,
    • Listing on free directories,
    • Manipulation of anchor text and permalinks,
    • Inserting duplicate content,
    • Uploading flash animations or
    • Creating animated and image based menus.

Video below, mentioning some of the unwarranted techniques in the website promotion and optimisation assignment :

    The Search Engine Optimization Protocol

Of course there are some protocols complied with, by web promotion specialists, based on assumptions and estimates as the logic behind those particular ones is hard to decipher, as only the pandas, the penguins or the spiders have sole monopoly over the secret.

However, the parameters which are easy to decipher are the ones which seem logical and considered as part of Organic SEO for boosting online visibility.

Use Hyphens In Domain Names Instead Of Underscores

For example, there seems to be a broad understanding among professionals, not to add more than two hyphens in domain names or else create the main URL without dashes.

One could say that this broad consensus has been arrived upon because the robots work on a principle of creating a user-friendly world wide web, for the masses.

And obviously many online marketing consultants striving for the best possible positioning on Google and Bing, agree with those principles and operate within that standard process and ideology.

    Appropriate URL’s for Websites

Remember the following while creating URL’s :

    • Use only lower case letters,
    • Insert target keywords,
    • Upload a favicon to building trust and brand awareness,
    • Block the bad ones with robots.txt,
    • Identify your top content and place it inside the root folder and
    • Use 301 redirects to prevent losing rankings on Google and Bing.

Now, let’s say one comes across an American domain name under consideration : www.thomsonoftampa dot com

Seems ok ? I think so. As long as the main URL address length is less than 15 characters and easy to read, it probably would suffice.

However, if one looks carefully, the meaning of the domain name could be interpreted by the users or the spiders in two ways –

    1. A company called “Thomson” in “Tampa, USA”

    or else

    2. “Thom” is the son of “Mr. or Mrs. Tampa”.

So one could conclude that the domain www.thomson-of-tampa dot com or www.thom-sonof-tampa dot com, could be sensible URL addresses in the former and the latter cases respectively, as they quite clearly, if not perfectly, define the context i.e. –

“Thomson” is an American company based in “Tampa, USA”

    or else

“Thom” is a name of a person who is the son of Mr. or Mrs. Tampa.

Or else the owner might opt for the non-hyphenated URL, as chosen originally, because such domains are easier for the followers to remember.

But then the .com extension is just an example, which is the top level domain (TLD) extension for commercial websites.

Since both websites belong different categories – one “business” and the other “non-business”, it would be better to use the .com for the former and maybe .org as the TLD for the latter, respectively.

All said and done one thing for sure – It would be avoidable stretching the URL to www.thom-son-of-tampa dot com (i.e. three hyphens inside the domain name).

There are possibly at least 2 (maybe more) rational reasons for choosing a domain with two dashes instead of three (in the case of that personal website under discussion) :

    • To simplify the URL as much as possible, for the followers of the website.
    • To circumvent chances of your site being downgraded by Google, which punishes such websites for using clever or black-hat SEO skills.

More the number of hyphens in domain names, the greater the opportunity one creates to gain an edge over competitors, on online result pages, for those important words used inside the URL.

Use Google URL Shortener to Simplify your Permalinks

Then of course one of the most important factor to keep in mind, according to industry professionals is – Creating URL’s which are easy for the visitors to understand and readable.

As far as permalinks are concerned, a character length of anywhere between 50 to 55 is SEO-friendly.

Some webmasters use the Google URL Shortener to simplify links. All URL’s are accessible by the public.

Some other related issues are of either low relevance or debatable such as –

    1. Avoiding Underscores – There is a general feeling that the search engines do not read underscores properly which could result in two or more words being combined into one.

    2. Circumventing Upper Case Letters.

    3. Using target keywords inside URL’s to enable the audience relate to the content inside the particular page.

There is no such thumb rule pertaining to the 3 aspects above.

It’s just that all three are recommendable and advisable for a better overall optimization performance, which can help boost revenues and growth in companies.

Having said that, there is no such penalty or downgradation at least by Google, in case the webmaster ignores all 3 recommendations above, by the experts in the field.

Thankfully, Google likes to be fair to all and gives as much level playing field as possible to all websites and penalizes only the ones trying to use over-smart methods to rank on page one, on online results.

It is the prerogative of all businesses to either understand the urgency for website SEO or else ignore the requirements and reasoning behind such Organic Search Engine Optimization protocols such as :

    • Mobile responsiveness,
    • Topical and relevant content
    • High-value incoming links,
    • Importance of paragraphs inside the pages,
    • Sitemaps,
    • Meaningful page headers
    • Intuitive navigation for visitors,
    • Useful keywords,
    • Fresh images and slideshows
    • Proper meta descriptions,
    • Page speed etc.

Surely, it does a lot of good if one optimizes his/her website, based on such guidelines.

Tip – Do not forget working within your budgets, allocated towards Off-page promotional activities.

    Websites beat Advertisements

Primarily there are two ways to promote your business or profession –

    •  Using traditional marketing methods like :

    A. Hiring staff,

    B. Newspaper or Print Media advertising,

    C. Official touring,

    D. Participating in exhibitions

    E. Networking within already known – business and high-networth social or family circle.

    • Creating an optimized website with user-friendly elements and publicizing the same either through paid / unpaid or cost efficient forms of promotion.

Which one is a better option ?

Well, there is no straight answer as it all depends upon the nature and size of any profession / company, its goals, existing conditions, past record, personal preferences and so on.

    optimized websites beat traditional marketing

Inbound Marketing More Productive Than Traditional Sales Methods

If asked personally, i think Websites beat Advertisements when it comes to effectiveness in business promotion.

Having said that, options A, C, D above are very expensive avenues of publicity.

Talking about option E – AAAhhh, I love that one.

Actually there is no better substitute to that one in the entire world, when it comes to marketing.

It’s virtually free of cost and in real, provides almost guaranteed business.

However, some don’t use that option because that makes one lazy and non-competitive, due to working only within a closed circle.

After all till when would i rely on the ideology of exchanging favors with friends and family to grow my career ?

I would prefer to fight it out the hard way and compete in the market based on my capability to produce a competitive product – instead of the specialty in making others happy through sweet talk.

Having said that, it not that all who employ such methods are actually incapable, but its just that getting rid of the same habit will surely prove fruitful in the long-run.

And then of course, there is no harm in using all sorts of means of publicity to grow your sales.

It’s just that, businessmen prefering to use only one form of marketing medium would be better off using an optimized website solely vs any other kind of single promotional tool available in the market or society.

And the ones wanting to employ several kinds of modes for promotion may very well focus the most on publicity through a website, keeping the other mediums of marketing as the second priority.

People thinking about the long-term do know very well that one day or the other their friends or families may look for other options.

So it is always better to be prepared in advance for any unforeseen circumstances and mould yourself to be strong enough to bear jolts in life.

Now we are left with only option B – i.e. Newspaper or Print Media Advertising.

Surely – An effective option, in the overall sense.

But still, which one, in general (considering an average sized business operating within standard atmosphere), out of the two is more efficient, enduring and practical in today’s world ?

Do optimised Websites beat Advertisements of both kinds – Online as well as offline AD’s ?

Broadly speaking – Yes, well-built and user-friendly web pages do enable greater inflow of potential buyers, in comparison to AD’s of both types.

Both – Websites and AD’s do actually promote your business or profession. So they are similar, in that sense, as both create a growth opportunity.

But they are very different when it comes to effectiveness in marketing results.

Which one is a more formidable tool for publicity, is for anyone to guess, because every corporate or an entrepreneur has custom needs and specific target audience and at different occasions.

Optimised Websites Beat Advertisements Hands Down

For a bus travel company, an effective AD on the sidewalk is the one which announces in brief why its bus service is nice and challenges you to try out the same by traveling in it or else visit its site.

But a well-designed website gives you far more reason why the bus service is clean, fast, safe, comfortable and punctual and finally even helps you in choosing timings, buying the ticket online etc.

On one hand one could also say that both are hardly substitutes to each other because after all advertising could be either offline or online and a web page may be well-built or otherwise.

But then, in general, websites surpass ads, when they do both –

    • Enabling selling a commodity through a user friendly interface

    • Producing a strong position on the SERP’s.

So is possible through online advertising, but then if a website is showing up on page one of Google, one can safely say that visitors will most likely browse the same.

Whereas if it is cropping up on the front page through paid advertising, then it there is no guarantee of it being useful, because after all it’s there not not due to its sheer class, but instead because of paid promotion.

Though high standard websites also advertise often – that is another matter.

One can witness a growth in revenues and profits and reach the top position, online if able to produce a spectacular website.

The Power Of Organic Web SEO

    A combination of :

    • On-page optimization,

    • Easy navigation,
    • Social media accounts setup,
    • Online display advertising,

    • Pay-per-click ads,
    • Link building and sharing,
    • Adaptive theme design
    • Slide presentations, animated photos and videos,
    • Intuitive browsing,
    • Appropriate keyphrase density and
    • Content marketing

has completely reformed traditional forms of business promotion.

organic search engine optimization for websites

    Tips On Organic Web SEO

Website optimisation falls under two types of categories : On-page and Off-page.

The former requires unique and latest content, internal links, adding an appropriate sitemap, usage of keywords, proper titles, headers, description, responsive cross-platform designing, a reasonable keyword density, picture alt tags and much more.

The latter consists of creation and handling of webmaster tools console, blogs, social media, email, video and content marketing for producing niche backlinks.

Beautiful contemporary template themes are available on various web hosting portals.

The standard of designing, interactive features, animations in websites and the quality of organic web SEO has improved a great deal, in the last 10 years.

Optimization ends up being the game changer by helping you increasing your revenues and sales turnover, the most out of all marketing mediums.

No doubt, websites are the clear winners, when they show up on page one of Google and Bing.

    boost rankings on google

Earn Backlinks To Boost Your Rankings On Google

Publish exclusive blogs, design compelling infographics and help other webmasters in fixing technical errors for an additional boost to your online ranking.
Some of course who are not cognizant of the advantages of optimisation, consider their websites like online presentations and lose out on the opportunity.

But the awareness level is surely huge in advanced countries.

It would be safe to say that an offline AD can never substitute a website because all said and done, all that a banner AD on the high street does is to remind you of the service it is selling, in a broader sense.

However, a really well produced sign board AD can on occasions, do a reasonably good job in convincing you of the calibre of the service it is marketing, even if unable to support the claim, as much as a properly designed site with –

    • Nice and trendy images,
    • Latest videos,
    • High-end photography,
    • Responsive components and layouts helping in auto resizing of browsers and
    • Storyboard animations

    could enable.

Websites Outperform Online Advertisements Because :

    1. As you have your mobile phone in your hand all the time, to search for a quality bus travel company if required, but it’s not possible for you to browse for bus tour operator AD’s on your TV, and for which you might have to head back home too.

Having said that, in such as case it is also possible to reach a paid online advertisement on the internet through your mobile search, but then, in general, natural listings especially on page one of Google, more or less guarantee listing only premium services or products vs paid online advertisements which may or may not be high-value listings, from time to time.

And obviously no one would visit the market just to look for banner AD’s on the retail streets.

Video below : High-standard Organic Search Engine Optimization enables better results as compared to traditional sales techniques. Websites help companies save time in chasing clients –

    2. Online advertising and internet marketing are expensive means of promotion.

    3. You might see a poster AD when you aren’t looking for that particular service and might forget the name or the URL of that product mentioned in the sign board, when required.

But you just type a few keywords on the internet, to find what you’re looking for, only when you need it.

However it’s likely that you neither reach the website of the same company you saw in the AD last month nor the best manufacturer or vendor you want.

But then what is the guarantee that the AD which you saw last week was promoting the most popular or the best item available in the market ?

Having said that there is no surety that products or services sold by the website you reach would be the best, but at least one has the opportunity to scrutinize and evaluate a seller to a large extent as compared to a very low possibility in the same regard, by watching an Ad.

    4. There surely must be something mysteriously magical about optimised sites or else companies like Google, Bing, MSN, Alibaba, Amazon or WordPress wouldn’t be where they are today.

After all how much can an AD describe about what you do ?

Brands which are are already established do surely need advertising, as their competitors keep coming up with innovative ideas to try and establish an authority.

But for a medium or a small sized business, an organically optimized visitor-friendly site has no limits, creates visibility and does that within a cheaper budget.

    5. Web Pages enable you choosing an item after some browsing, but an offline AD doesn’t.

    6. Websites help in creating content for marketing or building brand awareness and online visibility whereas traditional forms of Ads can only increase the same.

And product awareness will always come before you try and grow the same.

    7. What good can a great magazine Ad do if the visitor is unable to find a reputed service provider on the particular site, that magazine Ad has promoted ?

But a website with an attractive design, audience-friendly as well as optimized, eliminates the need of an expensive magazine Ad because one will still visit that great site, even if he/she doesn’t like the magazine Ad that same site has published offline.

    8. Finally, even in the case of paid online Ads – What use is it if a user clicks on a beautifully designed colorful banner Ad and reaches a site which offers incomplete or fake info ?

But i still might click an internet Ad of a great site (which i have visited already or “am familiar with”) even if that Ad is a simple Text Ad without any animation or frills.

An Advertisement Matches A Website In Certain Aspects :

    1. Expensive designer advertisements create an impact on the mind of the consumer by convincing him/her that the company promoting its product, is not a fly by night operator.

    2. Sometimes traditional forms of AD’s reduce the need to browse the internet search engines.

The chances of customers visiting websites of well reputed and large companies, or the ones manufacturing branded items and advertising more, are higher.

    3. If we talk about Google Adwords, PPC on Bing, paid Ads on MSN Facebook, YouTube, Linkedin, Google Plus etc. then of course Advertisements can sometimes match the strength of organic web SEO.

All said and done, “an AD leads you to a Site” and not the other way round.

That old school of thought no longer exists today – How will people know about me if i don’t advertise ?

Well if you stick to that thought even in today’s world then be prepared to spend a lot of money.

High-calibre Websites Beat Advertisements as they are fully equipped to solve the dual problem of :

Firstly helping the owner market his brand

Secondly that too at a reasonable cost.

Having said that – Yes, the ideal situation would be to choose both options simultaneously – Optimize a well-built site and use Paid advertising alongside – Offline or Online.

To make the user know about you, obviously it would be better to first create a great website which provides ample information and ease of use, save enough money and then spend on non-organic promotion.

Instead of going the other way round by trying to make the audience know about yourself through offline or online Ads and then making a clutter-free pages having simple navigation, after realising that those users left your site without buying anything because it was user-unfriendly.

And no matter how well-designed a site is, it has to be optimized too, after the building process.

So first build fresh content, then optimise to enable higher sales and finally advertise to increase your brand value which eventually helps you to grow your revenues even more than before.

    Websites like Online Brochures

Is it possible to do grow your business through optimizing and promoting your website ?

Of course it’s possible. But then why ignore a strong tool like that, for publicity ?

a website is the best tool for marketing

A Website Is The Best Tool For Publicity

Regarding a website like an online catalogue is a mistake. Well-developed web pages can help much more in marketing as compared to traditional sales techniques.

Are Websites like Online Brochures ? Are they meant to be like that ?

Well, it is like an online catalogue, if one has it just for the sake of it.

Long ago, one used to often come across non-optimized websites, without user-friendly elements and a shabby designs.

But that is not and never was the true purpose of a website.

The objective of a website is to bring new customers and clients from unknown and untapped markets.

But, if one is using a website only as a formality or for showing the same to existing clients, then the entire motive of this powerful promotional medium gets defeated.

Websites help companies, manufacturers, traders and service providers generate better revenues.

As times have changed, professional businessmen have understood the strength of a website and utilize the same, fully.

Unfortunately, sometimes we come across a category of customers who are actually the biggest enemies of Web Development and Optimisation Companies !

These are the ones who find solace only and only after they “reach out to” or chase potential customers through phone calls or else through face to face meetings and then convert those meetings into positive business results.

That’s how it is in certain situations. Some people mistakenly feel that it is not possible to grow unless you work hard through making a physical effort of constantly moving around and visiting customers.

This is the category which question – “How is it possible to make a sale while sitting inside your office just doing paperwork ?

This is where a site gets beaten badly and it gives the sense of being a useless tool. That kind of sense prevails in many underdeveloped countries, specially.

Considering Websites like Online Brochures is a Lost Opportunity

So yes it’s true that some mistakenly underestimate their sites and regard them just like any interactive catalogue or an informative virtual tour, for that matter.

That’s how it is. It seems there are exists a type of a entrepreneur who is just unable to gather enough drive to serve customers unless he/she has actually spent enough energy, time and networking skills to convert those leads in the initial phase.

He needs a sort of a satisfaction of having procured a client through hard selling practices. Sadly, for some, making a sale is everything as the inclination to optimise the service itself is a second priority.

One ends up spending entire energy and resources in just concentrating on closing a deal instead of saving time and money spent on advertisements and using it instead for bettering the product itself.

One could also argue that if instead of spending energy in pre-sales talk, one makes an equivalent effort in getting his or her pages well-designed, developed and optimized, the result could be probably great – actually better.

Remember – Theme based websites made of portals like WordPress are more attractive as compared to printed catalogues, 3D walkthroughs or digital virtual tours, due far more interactive features and image based content can be added inside them.

On top of that, infographics, videos and sliders with dark and light skin backgrounds and animated components when viewed on large screens, produce a further dazzle to the entire user-experience in well-built sites.

Tip – Commonly found internal links in the main menu on front pages of theme based websites are –

    • Home,
    • About Us,
    • Contact,
    • Products or Services and
    • Support

Template based designs with themes offer a large variety and are mostly adaptive and compatible on all devices.

A WordPress Website offers a variety of theme templates with interactive features.

Attractive web pages can prove to be a strong tool for companies in growing their profits, by providing a fantastic user-experience.

So it all depends. Sites probably don’t get their due because after all we are living in the age of pull and networking and partying.

This is the category which consider Websites like Online Brochures and end up losing the wonderful and the most useful opportunity to grow wealth, faster as compared to traditional marketing.

The awareness of “web power” is huge in advanced countries.

But unfortunately the level of cognizance on the issue is very low with customers already having or requiring new websites in India !

However, there may be some bonafide reasons for companies preferring to continue conducting business in the old-fashioned way and avoiding marketing through websites for procuring new clients –

    • Problems in Payment Recoveries : Difficulties in recovering money for products or services supplied to customers is a big reason why many companies find websites as useless, in India.

Businessmen shy away from searching new clients, as claiming payments for goods and services supplied to already known and old customers is a lesser headache as compared to new buyers obtained through digital marketing.

The courts take years and sometimes even a decade, to make the fraudsters pay-up for the product received from the suppliers, long ago.

Pending cheque bouncing cases are found in abundance in India. Not at all a common sight in the country.

    • Shortage of Liquidity in the Financial System – Because of the usual delays, postponements, excuses, avoiding meeting and phone calls, storymaking and dilly-dally tactics by vendees, most vendors are mostly on the defensive all the time.

The manufacturers or large wholesalers are normally in tight financial health and have no other option but to pay it safe by keeping expansion plans in the backseat.

On top of that, the interest rates are costly, resulting in low levels of borrowing from the banks.

    • Huge Disparity in the Local Business Atmosphere – As the small and medium enterprises are generally inefficient and unprofessional, the big companies due to lack of skilled manpower and resources, always have their hands full, leaving little room for further expansion, which in effect closes the option of requirement of an additional website.

A website is the best possible tool, for either :

    1. Businesses which do not believe in aggressive marketing

    or else

    2. The ones who are aware of the added advantages an organically optimized website may bring in, by helping increasing profits.

This is the category who value and improve their sites, regard them like “prized possession” and are cognizant of the regular maintenance, important updations and beautification web pages need.

Video below : A combination of On-page SEO, Off-page Optimisation and Social Media Marketing helps in a greater visibility on internet. Optimised websites produce income for businesses :

No doubt, a website is a more powerful tool than any brochure, because it’s interactive and responsive, unlike a fancy catalogue printed on art paper.

    Improving Page Ranking On Google

But what if any website is optimized to replace and substitute the pre-sales activity too, on top of the value addition it already provides by substituting a printed catalogue ?

Surely, a website helps professionals and service providers generate better revenues and increased profits.

Then why not use that facility ? Many do.

But some who end up treating own Websites Like Online Brochures are unable to understand that the old system of marketing a business will eventually prove disastrous in the long term for their own business.

Those who believe in the concept, build a website, for own requirements.

And the ones who are unaware of the requirements and advantages of SEO, find the entire exercise useless and end up conducting business in the old fashioned way.

    Old-fashioned sales techniques like –

    • Employing staff for cold calling,
    • Hiring executives for visits to clients offices,
    • Advertising through participating in trade exhibitions,
    • Payout to some professional publicity services provider or management consultant or
    • Networking through official lunches

are extremely expensive mediums of promotion.

Or else one could probably also conclude that it’s quite easy to procure valuable clients through websites.

Of course, only organically optimized pages can facilitate that.

But in reality, the effort, time and money spent on creating such a site is probably negligible vs the same resources one would use for old-fashioned forms of marketing.

Maybe it’s too good to be true ? It seems it is.

And people thinking that it would take a miracle to produce a customer through a website, end up carrying on with traditional types of advertising through emails or networking or phone calls or socializing.

But is there any harm in using both forms of sales promotion ? I don’t think so.

And maybe that’s how it should be.

    Websites, once improved with –

    • The necessary design elements,
    • Colored photos,
    • Slides,
    • Whiteboard video animations,
    • Proper html structure
    • Elegant layouts,
    • Animated GIF pictures
    • H1 and H2 tags,
    • White-hat SEO techniques,
    • Social media sharing
    • Effective keywords,
    • Backlinks from authority websites,
    • Fast loading speed and
    • An appropriate word count

can help company owners save a lot of effort, time and money spent on publicity on one hand and enable bettering their page ranking on Google on the other hand.

    Backlinks and Keywords for Visibility

Most companies do actually use conventional methods like telemarketing, networking or employ sales personnel and alongside also sell their products by building exciting, user-friendly and optimized sites for growth.

Of course using both forms of promotion does incur additional cost. But is it practical to incur the same ?

Well, it is viable at least for the ones who could afford it.

High page ranking on Google, on Bing and MSN, generates ample organic exposure and is the best way to increase popularity and earnings.

Ranking well for your target keywords, procuring quality backlinks and being active on social media grows brand awareness and value on one hand and improves chances of a higher discoverability of content by the audience, on the other hand.

Having said that, still there may be rational reasons sometimes for companies either unwilling to try or else finding optimizing a website unworkable :

    a. Ones which are trying to cut existing promotional activity cost due to low morale,

    b. A type of corporate which already has more customers than it can serve,

    c. Any establishment which somehow is not fully convinced of the potential power a website might have after it’s built properly and promoted and underestimates the strength of online marketing,

    d. An enterprise which has already tried out promoting its site in the past, but found it worthless, after finding zero improvement in income growth due to low page ranking on Google or any similar kind of bad experience,

    e. Any company owner who is penny wise and pound foolish (not a rational reason though).

In most cases, such attitudes (as in “d” above) originate due to either starting with a half-hearted approach on the site construction and optimization drive or else due to bad luck in misjudgement about the concerned service provider.

    But then exceptions always exist.

It would be difficult for website SEO companies to sell their services to category A, B and D and E, above.

But category C is the one which could targeted by enlightening such potential clients and boosting confidence inside them, about the unbelievable benefits of high page ranking on Google !

Once proven with positive results, confidence building measures will no longer be required, as businesses on their own will seek further improvement in their sites for establishing influence.

It’s a win-win for both the vendor and the vendee, after all. Isn’t it ?

Barring exceptions above, one could say that it’s a no-brainer when it comes to the point where an enterprise needs to decide whether to have a visitor-friendly site developed and optimized or not.

    Need For SEO

Is it an absolute must for large companies to optimize and market their websites ?

Not really. The amount of direct hits they generate on their pages, are enough to impress Google, Bing or MSN.

On the other hand, even after already reaching a dominating position, professionals do optimize their websites, to maintain higher growth.
Brand Building is a common exercise undertaken by big business houses as they cannot afford to lose customers and website promotion ends up being a part of the entire process.

on-page and off-page seo for websites

On-page and Off-page Optimization for Websites

On-page SEO is an in-house process improving user-experience.
Whereas Off-page optimization involves promotion on the search engines as well as social media.

Need For SEO By Big Scale Enterprises

Large companies understand the obligation of website optimisation but they know that SEO is useless unless they are good at what they do.

So one can say that to attract new and untapped buyers, online marketing is the most important requirement for any business. That is the key.

Maintaining a user-friendly site gives an advantage over competitors having non-optimized or mobile-unfriendly websites !

However, in the case of established brands, the urgency for optimization of websites, depends upon the nature of professional activity.

In fact, big businesses which have non-mobile customers, may or may not lose any substantial market share if their pages are only partly mobile phone compatible !

But their websites are fully smartphone-friendly, rendering the best possible user-experience and achieving high visibility on Google and Bing organic listing pages.

However, that advantage of both On-page SEO and Off-page Optimization is more or less superfluous in the end, as the best service wins, no matter how much you enhance, promote or advertise a website on the SERP’s.

So, Website Optimisation is the last step. For producing an improvement, factors which matter in descending order of relevance is :

    • First* – Improving efficiency levels of your own business and satisfying buyers.
    • Second** – Developing an audience-friendly website.
    • Third*** – Website optimisation for the crawlers.

Though all three procedures are inevitable, but the first two steps, are in particular, more important.

A page would be considered well built, if the second** activity is carried out. And properly optimised, if the third*** step is implemented.

    Optimization Of Websites For Visitors

    website headers and meta tags

Web Page Headlines and Meta Description Tags

    Top class websites require :

    • Topic specific content,
    • Appropriate page titles,
    • Meta tags and descriptions,
    • A balanced keyword density,
    • Bonafide and detailed information,
    • Easy navigation,
    • Useful external and internal links for references,
    • Topical words in the text body
    • And much more

to empower a placement within natural listings with Google Featured Snippets.

Tips on the necessary tasks for optimization of websites – Above : by Mallery Online Marketing

It might prove counterproductive vis a vis a site’s popularity, if the priorities are reversed, i.e. in cases where one gives the last priority to the first* step, keeping the third*** procedure as the foremost.

It might be imperative for medium and small scale enterprises to try and establish a reputation in the market through Off-page optimization, due to severe competition.

Website optimisation does not necessarily mean improvement for the crawlers. It is actually an inevitable process for web pages to be customer-friendly too, by default.

Websites empowered through or having :

    • relevant headers and keywords,
    • appropriate design,
    • AMP-friendly elements,
    • informative and simple to understand content
    • an overall responsive feel

are the ones which can be considered as as ideal.

Such are the kinds of web pages which are inevitably appropriately-produced for the robots as well as users and help in sales generation too.

However it is not impossible find websites owned by big brands, which are non-optimized for the crawlers but still carrying high web page rankings on Google and Bing !

And why would any large company fail to implement the third step as they all are aware of the fact that marketing through websites is more powerful than online advertising !
